"Of course, it's an unpleasant feeling. But I am trying to think more about my return and the club's business... But of course I am holding the Olympics in the back of my mind. It's getting closer every day."

It’s not like he was going to play. To be selfish, we don’t want him to go. Let him rehab at home. Make him focus on the real prize…

I actually think it’s better for him to go. Mentally rested there, he’ll be fresher down the stretch, and from interviews it seems like not going would affect him negatively. As it is it looks like he’s going to get almost no playing time, right? Nabby and Bryz have the inside track to starting games.

For sure. We can all agree he won’t play more than a few minutes, if he’s lucky, but it’s whether his time spent there would be better spent rehabbing at home. It’s definitely debatable.
On the one hand, he will gain a unique experience and perspective from going, on the other hand if he stays at home he will have more time to work out and get mentally prepared for the upcoming task at hand. I am sure the Games are a whirlwind for a young kid.
Not that I think it really matters one way or the other, and just to be named is a confidence boost, I would just rather him buckle down, rehab hard, rest and think about the rest of the season, instead of traveling, excitement, distractions, partying, etc.

I’m not gonna lie, Green not going to the Games is awesome. Keep him fresh and angry.

Strangely, I’m far less concerned that he’s got a knee problem which, as long as it’s not serious, can heal completely rather than a groin issue which can linger for years. He’s young, give him all the time he needs to get better and let Theo and Neuvirth fight it out until after the Olympics. Then Varly can return healthy and rested for the stretch run. Having a 16 point cushion gives them that luxury.
Right. The irony is that the knee injury has allowed his groin to heal completely.

Of course, compensating for a bad groin may have caused the knee…

Lisa Hillary already said Varley is off the Olympic team. The point is mute.

Really it's 2014 that Varly cares about
Along with a few other V.I.Rs. And yes, it’s happening.
