King Karl! Welcome home!
I hope he packed the mustache.
Matt Bradley is my fµcking hero, I mean he was before, but now he’s like double or something.
Mustache nothing… I hope he packed his beard, ‘cause he’s gonna be here a while!
That boy’s got some bodacious face-fur. He could give lessons!

Good for Karl. Aside from his upcoming stint in Hershey during the Olympics, Washington should be his permanent home from here on out.
Fact.
This news makes me happy.

But with Carlson’s demotion, doesn’t this basically change nothing? Or is Pothier/Erskine ready?
Matt Bradley is my fµcking hero, I mean he was before, but now he’s like double or something.
I suspect we’ll see Carlson back in time to get some good time in before the playoffs. That, combined with some strategice deletions, will, in my opinion, result in the happiness factor associated with our defense being at season-high levels!
Bullcrap. We’ll always find something to complain about. It’s our job.

No, because with both Pothier and Erskine out, he still plays.

Sloan for Norris!

Sloan for Selk-orris!

Glad he got in enough games in Hershey to qualify to play there during the five ring circus…
Welcome back King Karl…
Let's go Caps!
Next Season
So assuming Carlson and Alzner make the big boy squad next season, what will the defensive roster look like?
Green, Shultz, Carlson, Alzner, and who else. Taking free agency into account.

Poti is signed through next year as well. Personally, I’d love to see us make a run at Anton Volchenkov in the offseason. Not sure what he’d take to sign, but his cap it is around 2.5 million right now, and I don’t think the Senators will be able to resign him.

Pothier and ShaMo are UFAs and Schultz is an RFA.

Nicklas Lidstrom?? That would be cool though that’s basically impossible I’d think.
Ovechkin = Green Backs

Pothier wasn’t ready yesterday, from what I heard, and Erskine was only just starting to be close to ready…

I wouldn’t mind seeing Poti-Alzner.

But then you have Slo-Mo as the third pair.

Green-Schultz works perfectly. I don’t want to see them split.

although poti seemed to raise his game when reunited with schultz, no? similar to how any line with ovechkin seems to click, any pairing with green seems to click.

Yes, Poti’s good play is attributable to everyone but Poti. Exactly.

I don’t know that I’d throw Alzner into that yet. Schultz handles it beautifully so far this year. Weren’t Alzner and Sloan a pairing in last year’s Calder playoffs?
No Alex, no ratings. Know Alex, know ratings.
I believe so, yeah.

Alzner’s already getting shafted with a 5-6 defender. No need to go all the way and play him with someone that does not belong in the AHL.
Now drink with me deeply of the bourbon, scotch, and rye until such time as we are fighting drunk.

Correction: That does belong in the AHL/does not belong in the NHL.

Of course, they could prove us wrong, and play outstanding when paired together… it isn’t impossible that Alzner could elevate Sloan’s play, rather than Sloan dragging Alzner’s down…

@JeffMarek, FTW:
Caps call up Karl Alzner from Hershey. Now there’s a real Team Canada captain.
"I must be hallucinating. What's a good thing for a hangover?"
"Drinking heavily the night before."
question
when the Caps first sent Alzner down, they said “oh he’ll be back in a couple days.” Then a week+ later they fess-up that it was to help him qualify to play in the AHL during the Olympic break. Why didn’t the Caps just come out and say that when they sent him down? My mind is becoming more and more scrambled on this kid and I can’t imagine what it’s like to be him!
Knowing GMGM, it was probably just to screw with us.
Can’t you just see him sitting there, laughing at our anguish?
I could see him standing there not giving a crap.

He was probably smiling like he was in the capsrap video
Matt Bradley is my fµcking hero, I mean he was before, but now he’s like double or something.
Knowing GMGM
If GMGM is giving our thoughts or concerns any consideration whatsoever, I would be aboslutely astonished. It would also be time to consider looking for another General Manager.

I didn’t hear them actually say he’d be back in a couple of days… where did you?

OK, a misread of your question? But there was definitely a Bruce quote that said he’d be back sooner than later. Probably in daily video after it happened.
