The "A"

Sorry that there's no Chris Bourque angle to this, but the roster on the official site lists three alternate captains — Mike Knuble, Tom Poti, and Alex Ovechkin.  Since only two players can wear the A at once (unless there's no designated captain), do we have any idea how a rotation would be executed?  I feel like this would've been addressed by now — am I missing something obvious?

It's nice that tomorrow we can have actual games to occupy our time rather than all this...

I’d presume it’s a fairly loose rotation, informal and unannounced, but I haven’t heard otherwise.

Rec’ing for your intro.

In the sense that Kanoobie and Poti thumb wrestle for it before every game.

I only hope injuries don’t play a role in this…but it definitely could. Given the 3 choices presented, and going by nothing but senority, I’d say Poti gets it over Knuble when all 3 are healthy.

Having said that that, I think the Caps have at least half a dozen other guys that could proudly (and rightfully) wear an “A”, Brooks Laich comes to mind immediately, but there are others.

All I know for sure, is that as long as he’s wearing a sweater, Alex Ovechin is going to have a letter on his.

Sorry, I do know how to spell “Ovechkin”. I couldn’t think of worse typo to make.

Maybe “Capitas” or something.

Did anyone else notice that Knuble wears the A in NHL10?

No...

But did you notice that Brian Pothier is really good in NHL10, and it is nearly impossible to knock anyone down with Mike Green (really authentic).

I’ve sniped more goals off the face off with ShaMo than anyone else.

One guy just drove his semi as a float. I guess semis are cool.

If it’s in the game…

I'm so sick and tired of the refs explaining the calls like this is the NFL.

Kris Letang said the same thing.

Evgeny Kuznetsov hams it up as he joins the Russia men's national team for the "Sweden Games" leg of the Euro Hockey Tour in Helsinki, Finland.

There's a bit of controversy as their game against the Finns is scheduled to be played in Helsinki's outdoor Olympic Stadium. Where the daytime temps are currently approximately minus-15 degrees Celsius, with periodic heavy snow.

This interview with head coach Zinetula Bilyaletdinov is fascinating, as he frets about the weather and especially when the reporters press him on the leaked reports that Kuznetsov will be centering the top line for Team Russia, just weeks after his 20th birthday.
