I’m looking forward to watching Varly in net. I’ve been working during the past few preseason contests so it’s nice to get out and occupy my seat tonight.

interesting looks at the pivot and possible line combos (beyond OBK)…any thoughts?
from the house that Red Jesus built
Perreault is the only skill C on there not named Backstrom so I’m hoping we get to see him with Semin, but I’m not holding my breath. BB really eased him into the last game so I don’t know that he wants to throw him that much responsibility yet. However BB does it he should have 2 good checking lines.
If you're after gettin' the honey, then you don't go killin' all them bees.
A test for Laich at center tonight, maybe?

I briefly considered it too but can’t imagine this is the case…Bruce knows what he has there (a wing).
from the house that Red Jesus built
That’s what I would have thought but if it’s not Perreault or Laich it doesn’t make much sense to put anyone else there. Perreault is the better minor league option than Wilson; and Laich is the better NHL option than B. Gordon if only because BB should be more certain that B. Gordon can’t play 2C than he is that Laich can’t play 2C. Outside those 4 I don’t know who else it would be. Maybe Semin/Perreault/Laich and let Laich play some C and Perreault play some W? Seems like a tough spot to put a kid in if you want him to impress you.
If you're after gettin' the honey, then you don't go killin' all them bees.
was twiddling this (breaking up OB and K)
Carebears
Laich-Perreault-Knuble
Osala-BGord-Clark
Laing-Wilson-AGord
Sugden
I think the D pairs are OK as listed
from the house that Red Jesus built
Interesting take. Plenty of toughness on those wings if BB chooses to play Perreault at 2C.
If you're after gettin' the honey, then you don't go killin' all them bees.
perhaps even flip flop Laich and my boy OO to see what’s what at the 2LW….
from the house that Red Jesus built
Probably more youth than BB wants in that line but it could happen.
If you're after gettin' the honey, then you don't go killin' all them bees.
prolly. As the Double O lobby E.D., I do have responsibilities, though.
from the house that Red Jesus built
I can appreciate that. You keep MP on 2C and I’ll support your motion for OO for 2W.
If you're after gettin' the honey, then you don't go killin' all them bees.
BB has got to want OBK line to play as much as possible before the season starts. Semin isn’t a good long term option on that line.
Color me silly, but I’m excited about watching Pothier tonight and throughout the season. Could be a great story…or not.

Is Andrew Gordon getting another game?
He’s flying under the radar in everyone’s discussions, but that would make him the only forward to play in all 4 preseason games.
I think he’s real close to a 4W spot in BB’s mind. If a grinder goes down I absolutely would not be shocked to see A. Gordon get called up.
If you're after gettin' the honey, then you don't go killin' all them bees.
I agree, if its a 4w spot for the start of the season i think Laing gets it but it is always good to keep an eye on others such as A. Gordon to get a call up this season with all the time he is getting so far this preseason
For any who may care, ESPN.com posted its preview for the Southeast division teams not long ago.
Most shocking is the revelation that 9 teams will make the Eastern Conference playoffs this year.

Had the same problem last time. I work in NYC and live in New Jersey and the Caps stream worked in neither location. Though it could be my laptop…

On the replay of Ovi’s first goal, I know its bad form to quibble, and I know Ovechkin had an empty net, but I’d like to see Backstrom take that shot.
Also, because it happened while I was typing, Wooo!
Also also, has Chicago’s defense left the locker room after the intermission yet?
Atta dinnin stick a who!
Again, bad form to quibble because it was a pretty goal, but I have the abiding feeling that if they try that cutesy shit during the regular season, it’s an odd-man rush heading straight down to the Caps’ net.
Sorry to be such a wet blanket, but I’m being reminded why the SOB line is such a mixed blessing.

I was at the NYI/TOR game at NYI around last xmas and my lady caught a NYI T shirt. The lady in front of us turned around and just took the T shirt of her lap and kept it. It was one of the most straight-faced acts of rudeness I’ve ever seen. At the end of the game this dumb lady gave the T shirt away to some other dudes! The catch phrase on the shirt was hysterically unflattering as well, but I can’t remember what it was. It was one of the least desirable T shirts I’ve ever seen.

His quickness is astounding. Even Chicago’s NHL D had a hard time getting within stick distance of him. He pulled some very impressive moves behind the net, I thought. Unfortunately his two nicest plays were wasted by NHLers.

Maybe it was just because of the two guys he skated with (A. Gordon and Wilson) but he looked a little slow. He definitely showed a good shot the couple times he got to use it (does anyone else think he hit that crossbar in the third?), and he seemed to be actively seeking the body. I’d say he looked alright but definitely has work to do.
