Caps Opening Night - We're On.
Score! Good news, everyone. I've got a place that has alcohol and a full menu and will be showing the Caps opener, so we're on for opening night. I'm not sure about the quality of the beer there, but they do have a full bar and lots of seating. I've been there a couple of times - it's pretty nice and should work for us, even if it is a little pricey. But well, we don't have a lot to work with (thanks, DirecTV).

The closest Metro stop is Metro Center; it's about a two-block walk away.
I'd like to get a headcount so that I can let ESPNZone know we're coming and see if I can get any specials or save us seats or something.

Luckily, I do not have DirecTV, so I’m pretty sure I will opt to watch the opener from the comfort of my own home (with a few friends, natch).
ESPN zone has decent selection of beer and food, but I frankly find it overpriced.

I was thinking of going to Baileys with a group of friends but if a bunch of people will be at ESPNZone then I will get them to go there.
The issue is that the game won’t be available on DirecTV (which most bars/restaurants have). Where ever it is you go, you have make sure that they will BE ABLE to show the game…

I’ll be there, pending getting the schedule I requested.
Thank you for doing the heavy lifting to put this together.

Caps’ newsletter sez:
Kickoff the season
The Caps may start the regular season on the road in Boston on Oct. 1, but fans can catch all the excitement back in the District with a 7 p.m. viewing party at the Hard Times Cafe in Springfield, Va.
Technically, Springfield ain’t eggzackly “in” the District. And neither is it very convenient for me. So I’m still planning for ESPNZone.
IS PAЯTY NOW
as a former MoCo resident, Springfield is a MAJOR pain in the ass for Marylanders. (and, honestly, its not much better from most DCers)
Second that. I’m coming in from Western MoCo, Springfield in rush hour? Nothx.

Third that. Coming from Baltimore is even worse. Seems like the Caps aren’t willing to do the Maryland folks a lot of favors.
