Anyone know if this game is being streamed online anywhere?

I asked earlier…and the answer I got was “no”.

Sigh, I’d love to check out the game…I am itchin’ for a Caps hockey fix!

I love the forward corps the Slugs are dressing. It’s going to really test our D and should give GMGM a good idea about the relative skill levels of the 4 guys from Hershey.

Although it’s unlikely they dress 15 forwards so we’ll have to see which of those guys actually play.

yep, looks like both sides are assessing the D tonight.

Related: assuming the lines are roughly as listed, if this isn’t a big night for the Giraffe, I don’t know what is.

I think that should be Tim, not Tyler (of the Pens) Kennedy for BUF

Not that it’s a big deal, but that’s the same Tim Kennedy drafted in 2005 by GMGM, then traded for a 6th round pick in the 2006 draft. Weird.
Anyway, the kid has done well – made AHL all rookie last year with 18G, 49A – damn good totals. GMGM goofed, maybe?

Casavant was at least a late round pick so it’s not really like he’s a dud. Not much was expected of him, and in any event he was drafted in the most recent draft so he wasn’t expected to be ready for anything yet.

There is a front bar area where most people hang out, but there is also a back bar area that’s smaller, but almost definitely big enough. Next time I’m there I’ll ask how they set it up for karaoke, but I don’t think it’ll be this weekend.

Karaoke sets up in the inner bar area on the mall entrance side. I had to watch last week’s Titans-Steelers game amidst a chorus of “Youuuuuu my Brown Eye Girl”.

The Caps game will probably be over by then though. It was well after nine before the Kevin Skinners of Arlington took the stage.

Nugget from Vogs:

The Sabres’ roster for tonight features Tyler Myers and Tyler Ennis, a pair of kids who were chosen in the first round of the 2008 NHL Entry Draft. Myers, a defenseman, was chosen 12th overall. He is a big rig at 6-foot-8 and 222 pounds.

Ennis, who signed a contract with the Sabres yesterday, was chosen 26th overall. He is a 5-foot-9, 163-pound center who has scored 43 goals for Medicine Hat in each of the last two seasons.

Buffalo has done a remarkable job of drafting and developing players over the last decade or so, and the Sabres hope Myers and Ennis will eventually be the latest in that line. Of the 20 players suiting up for the Sabres here tonight, 15 of them were drafted by Buffalo. Nine of the 20 players the Caps brought for this tilt are Washington draftees.

Yeah, that was a little insane. Hopefully B-Mo’s okay – classless move, especially in the preseason. Playing with an edge to make the team is one thing, disrespecting your opponents is another. Jerk.

Now all the Varlamov detractors (who were ready to cast him aside after yesterday’s scrimmage)

They (Varlamov’s detractors) can be quiet. I got distracted during my last post.

Evgeny Kuznetsov hams it up as he joins the Russia men's national team for the "Sweden Games" leg of the Euro Hockey Tour in Helsinki, Finland.

There's a bit of controversy as their game against the Finns is scheduled to be played in Helsinki's outdoor Olympic Stadium. Where the daytime temps are currently approximately minus-15 degrees Celsius, with periodic heavy snow.

This interview with head coach Zinetula Bilyaletdinov is fascinating, as he frets about the weather and especially when the reporters press him on the leaked reports that Kuznetsov will be centering the top line for Team Russia, just weeks after his 20th birthday.
