Alex Ovechkin Named D.C. Sportsman of the Year
As we noted this morning, Alex Ovechkin was named D.C. Sportsman of the Year at last night's Sneaker Ball. It was a repeat performance for AO (in the only two years the award has been handed out), who also took home the award for "best play" for this amazing individual effort in Game 5 of the Rangers series (which beat out Semyon Varlamov's save on Sidney Crosby, among nominees).
Ovechkin wasn't the only Cap honored at the event, however, as vice president and general manager George McPhee was named Sports Executive of the Year (narrowly, we presume, edging out Jim Bowden and Vinny Cerrato).
For more, including the standard "Ovi with attractive women" shot, check out Steinz's file on the evening.

haha, oh i did :)
p.s. speaking of pictures, if anyone cares (off topic, sorry), i noticed there are more backgrounds to the caps’ new website layout now – so far i’ve seen steckel, gordo, and flash but i’m assuming that means they have pretty much everyone now

D.C. Sportsman of the Year, “best play”, a video game box AND hot chicks all in one year…ooooh, even better than winning, say, the Stanley Cup huh?
