Anyone playing NHL2K10 on Wii?
For people like me who have the Wii, we have the disadvantage of only being able to play NHL2K10, so this thread is to exchange friend codes and get a feel if anyone wants to start leagues or online gaming.
I bought the Wii Speak to see how well this works, so don't Wiive me behind. (Ha, ha. I know that's horrendous — it's late.)
So my Wii Friend Code is 6485659536580474.
I only played a couple games so far tonight, and it will take me longer than other hockey games to get used to. I'm trying to hold out from using the Classic Controller.
My initial thoughts on the game:
• Shooting and passing isn't as natural and accurate as it should be — especially with MotionPlus. My passes keep going into the defensive zone.
• On that note, use the tutorial to familiarize yourself with the new controls. They're different enough from 2K9 where you can't just pick up and use last year's controls.
• The Mii Superskills is hilarious and a nice add.
• Didn't see roster download available yet so I attempted to update myself and it didn't save the first time for whatever reason.
• Players skate painfully slow, which is odd because I felt like 2K9 was faster than most games and had a more realistic pace.

I’ve actually got the Wii 2k10 coming in the mail via GameFly, so I might have it as soon as tonight, and through the weekend, at the very least, unless it turns out to be incredibly awesome, which, unfortunately, I don’t expect to be the case.

It definitely takes some training, patience and even a trip to the 2k boards.
So I haven’t done online games much for Wii and apparently you need to share your friend code for this one and not Wii Code. It’s 326643447261
Wow. So, I’ll give it another shot, but jesus god was that game awful. Not to mention that it doesn’t even bother with a handy-dandy “Let’s teach you how to use our whack-ass controls before you go embarrass yourself” tutorial.
“Disappointed” is a little too weak of a word for my first impression with the game.

I’m six days into playing it and I’ve managed to get the controls, under control. But I still keep reverting to the incorrect way.
I’ve found that with shooting, the inner edge of the Wii remote has to move toward the TV and not the face with the buttons, like last year. So, it really is like holding a stick without a blade at the end. And you forget where your blade is, so you’re frequently pump-faking without taking a shot.
With passing, if your player isn’t facing the way you need to pass, expect to see it go toward your goal. And it doesn’t use the same logic as shooting, in how you should use the controller. So to pass up ice, I have to flick the controller up with the A-button side up. Passing to the side requires me to drop the controller down to my side like shooting, and then making that motion.
The tutorial leaves much to be desired. The Mii SuperSkills games give you more instruction to what to do with the controller than the regular tutorials. Even with the Mii instructions, I found it incredibly difficult to do what it says I should do.
In the fastest skater competition, there’s some instruction that’s missing b/c my player keeps falling into the boards in the corners. Plus, I don’t know why they didn’t use the same shooting controls as the regular game.
Still, it’s managing to grow on me. But that doesn’t stop me from cursing up a storm every game, wondering why EA has ignored the Wii for its NHL series.
I just finished reading the rave review it got on IGN
and was fully prepared to buy it for Wii until I read this thread. I don’t know if I’ll go out and buy NHL 10 for PS3 or if I’ll just stick with my Be A Pro that I haven’t even completed a full season on in NHL 09.

Owning both, I’ll say that NHL 10 feels like a more complete hockey game end to end – I’m happier with it, with slight exceptions thus far:
-The person pinned to the boards seems wholly unable to win his 1v1 and scrap away with the puck. This should at least happen some of the time. Instead, all he can do is either kick-pass the puck away or wait for teammate help.
-There’s an infrequent AI bug where, on the rush, a computer opponent will simply drift left and right, thinking about how to get into the zone, while his wings and D all sort of idly stand around on the blue line waiting for him to cross. This can go on for as long as 15 seconds before the forward with the puck simply dumps it in.
-Wing to D to wing to D to wing to D to wing to D to wing bug from 09 still exists, AI can get stuck in that loop for almost 30 seconds.
-Framerate is exceptionally improved. It’s clear 10 is the first game they properly coded with the right threading for the Cell processor. That said, loading times to get into the Be A Pro equipment section, with slots and gear and such.. those loading times are unusually slow.
-Awful GM is awful.. first week of my Be A Pro season, the Caps traded away Fehr and Semin for a pair of sub-80 defenders from the Blues. Digital GMGM is a one-bit processor with parity error.
