[A]sked whether he thought new Ranger Donald Brashear might now punch him in the face[:]
"No, no, no," Ovechkin said. "Probably he's still my friend and probably he's gonna punch you, not me."

And this -
The hosts asked him at some point what he thought of New York.
“Well, it’s not bad,” Ovechkin said. “It’s not best place in the world, but it’s ok.”
And a thousand Washingtonians breathed sweet sighs of joy. What’s better than the City, the hosts asked him incredulously.
“Moscow,” he said. “Yeah. It’s like Moscow first, second Washington, uh…New York probably third or fourth.”
Yeah, Montreal used to be his favorite place to play, right? I guess it’s now 3rd or 4th.
Comment first, think second, read third.
He wasn’t asking about where he liked to play, just what he thought of New York City. The fact that he thinks NYC is the 3rd or 4th best city is pretty damn funny though. Definitely didn’t make any friends with New Yorkers after that.
Most New Yorkers are full of themselves when it comes to their city. They can afford to be knocked down a peg or two.

Except for me. I’m a humble man who remembers his Maryland roots.

I'm also a huge Caps fan living in NY
and I’d love to see someone knock out Craig Carton. They don’t get anymore obnoxious.
FWIW, I grew up in Maryland and had Caps season tickets (actually my father in laws) in the late 80’s.

See you during the season Road Warrior. Last season, we organized a couple of NYC area game watches, and hope to do so again.

I would tend to think that most people don’t punch their $120m+ friends, either.

If #8 and Brash are ever on the ice at the same time, that’s a big win.

“Well, if that’s the way he wants to play the game then that’s the way he’s going to play tyhe game” Ovechkin Crosby said. “There’s a lot of good players out there who want to do the same thing and like I said, if that’s the way he wants to play then that’s fine.”

Ya think? Just a little? :) I get the distinct impression that he’s all “are we done yet? Can I go get on the ice now?”

Yes it was. He looked positively crushed.
