and if you’ll be at work or are a metro commuter, Elliot almost always gets these things up online by the next day for your listening pleasure.

Anyone catch this? Did he discuss how great it feels to be the 10th most valuable guy on the team?

I did catch it, and for the most part there’s nothing earth shattering to report. They talked a little about working out during the summer, being ready for the season to get started, the changes on the roster and the Caps convention. Well, and at the end there was a little joking about the Ovechkin and sex comments. Steckel said this was the first he’d heard about it, which shouldn’t be surprising, as I wouldn’t expect the players to be reading the blogs all that much. Sorry, JP, that includes this one, too.

That’s not quite accurate. This blog is single-handedly keeping Jeff Schultz’s self-esteem in the black.

True story.

The only thing that really stood out to me is that he said he probably wouldn’t go back to Ohio State if he could do it again. I was just tuning in then so I’m not sure I caught the whole context, though.

As a Penn State alum, this makes me like Steckel much more. However, not enough to vote for him in the FanPost polls yet.

I came here to post the link—but I see Ovechwin already got that…

Gotta give Elliot credit for promoting the hell out of this team since his first day on the air.

I was about ready to give up on the Caps and the NHL after the whole Jagr experiment, the fire-sale and then finally the strike…but it was Elliot’s coverage of this team and his excitement over the drafting of Alex Ovechkin that probably kept me hanging on and paying attention. (that and the fact that I just can’t walk away no matter how disgusted I get; hell, I still root for the O’s even though every year I say “that’s it!—I’m mad as hell and not gonna take it anymore!”)

A lot of local media outlets are starting to finally talk about this team (and I don’t blame them), but just like you gotta give credit to those true fans who were rocking the -red-…er, black, teal, gold during the lean years, you have to give credit to guys like Elliot who has always loved the Caps and kept trying to promote them even when it seemed like no one cared to listen.

Penguins as Penguins. I thought this was really funny, the penguins first line as, well, cute little tiny non-powerful penguins. I mean, penguins can't even fly. Hard to see on the small versions, but on the large version it is pretty clear.
