I dunno. I kind of like it, although I think I’d like it better if he wrote in proper English … :)

It seems very suited to his personality (what we know of it, anyway).

It’s not bad at all, but the banner is a bit bling-y. The photo section is awesome, though.

Mike Green. bling-y? Never :) Nah, I think Greenie likes his bling and he’s got a bit of a thing for the whole bad boy attitude.

Sure it’s bling-y, but I guess it doesn’t bother me so much because it screams his personality, and that amuses me. Can’t tell you why other than that.

And yes, the photo section is awesome. He’s also got a Twitter feed, in case you hadn’t noticed.

I had, and I agree, it doesn’t bother me one bit – he is who he is, and we wouldn’t want him any other way.

Exactly so. I’d far rather have guys with personality in the Caps locker room than a lot of automatons.

I love that second picture where he’s about to destroy Pomminville. I am a little disconcerted that a couple of those pictures look like he’s playing without a mouth guard in. I can’t imagine the training staff would let any player get away with that so I doubt that is really the case.

If it’s real I actually do think it’s awesome, bad grammar and all…and come on, JP, you know you and the other Rink boys are just days away from putting similar pictures of yourselves up! How many tattoos do you have?

by Becca H on Aug 30, 2009 4:11 PM EDT reply actions

I’ve met JP. That’s a dangerous question to ask.

Moderated. It wasn’t appropriate.

Greenie looks like he has “bulked” up a bit and also has a link on the home page to a hockey conditioning training program called Crash. I wonder if that’s a statement to all the critics that said he was out of shape last year.

by Direction 87 on Aug 30, 2009 6:00 PM EDT reply actions

Looks like an endorsement to me.

by David Getz on Aug 31, 2009 11:37 AM EDT up reply actions

Yeah, there are few that are bigger Mike Green fans than I (although many equals, I’m sure), but this does a bit over the top. Granted, I’m 99.9% sure he would have commissioned someone to do this for him, so it’s not like you can look at like something “he did”…but then again if it is legit, he would have had to approve it.

It’s alright, sites like this aren’t really my thing—they’re all over pro sports as many athletes have them…his agent probably wants to help “promote his off-the-ice image” or something.

I am curious to see what pops up on his twitter page though.

Is it bad that I laugh every time I see the picture? Like, really, kids from Calgary go all gangsta? Or maybe his years in Arlington have introduced him to thug life? Next thing you know he’ll be flashing his street cred by wearing brown sandals.

by RedBirdie on Aug 30, 2009 7:06 PM EDT reply actions

LOL at the brown sandals…I don’t know if anyone remembers that video of all the Development Camp prospects doing the DC tour but they all seemed Arlington-ready, with plaid shorts and brown flip-flops.

Welcome to the DC area, boys.

what is with these brown flip flops.

hey i just bought some.

Awesome reference. That video is great. I went to high school with the guy who made it and didn’t even notice that fact until someone told me weeks later.

I’d like to see a Matt Bradley website. I can’t decide if it should be educational about the Forces of Hockey, or teaching readers how to recycle.

On October 12, 1985, Michael David Green was born into a humble Calgarian family.

Glad we got that “humble” thing settled.

now that I deleted my superfluous fan shot (sorry, missed this one somehow this morning) i think its pretty cool that Green is doing this, though I too chuckled a bit at the “blinginess”.

Who wants to take bets on when the updates basically stop? Mid october?

I bet they continue all year. Greenie didn’t build the thing, and he ain’t updating it. Somebody has a contract to do that. The thing is probably coordinated through his agent.

I wonder if this is just a brilliant marketing strategy designed to increase Green’s popularity among DC’s newly hockey-invested “urban” population.

(I jest)

Ya know...

…someone commented on PuckDaddy that this made Mike Green the biggest d-b (the b stands for “bag”, the d is left as an exercise for the reader) in the league.

This is incorrect, since the following people are still in the league:

 Sean Avery
 Darcy Tucker
Cindy Sidney Crosby
 Sean Avery
 Todd Bertuzzi
 Sean Avery

Plus there are countless others that also rate higher on the d-b scale. Not to mention that Jim Ball-silly, the inventor of the Crackberry wants to join the NHL, presumably to compete with Avery for the title…

Got ya. I know that there is a group of people out there that are going to latch onto anything AO does to rip him. I expected them to give him crap about the tattoo and I don’t particularly care what they think. If you want hockey talk, hang out here.

Site Poorly Designed

I just wanted to say this, I love Mike Green and I love how he’s trying to market himself more. The attention will be great for the Capitals and himself, as he’s one of the coolest guys ever and that can only benefit everyone involved. But considering the cash he makes, one of his friends or a friend of a friend must have made this site, because it’s pretty bad.
