I still tend to believe that it will be resolved by late September. In the meantime I plan on verbally abusing a DirecTV CSR to convey my displeasure.

Unfortunately, I doubt Versus carries the kind of clout that would come if they threatened to drop the worldwide leader. Versus will likely need to cave.

The problem is that Versus has Comcast behind it. And Comcast (a) has the money to support letting Versus go dark in several million households, and (b) has a vested interest in making DirecTV look like a poor option for TV service. This really could go on a long time. And if it does, it’s the NHL that gets screwed

I sure hope the NHL lets Versus/Comcast know they do not look favorably upon failing to get along with others. There’s always SportsChannel you know….

My parents live on the eastern shore of MD, and their cable provider is Atlantic Broad Band, who dropped Comcast sports net over a year ago. Unfortunatley, this company has a monopoly on the broadband internet market, and you can’t get broadband without having cable as well, so they can’t do Direct TV and just order the broadband. I’ve called on their behalf multiple times to complain but have had no success.

Write a letter to the FCC. Seriously, it may actually do some good. Write Ben Cardin as well.

It would be a good idea, were the FCC not a collection of self-serving buffoons. If anyone wants to start a mob and get all Samuel Adams on those SOBs, I’m in.

If they’re on the Eastern Shore, are they far enough away from DC to get the Caps games on Center Ice?
Let's go Caps!

More reason to hate the Flyers (who are owned by Comcast, who owns Versus)

Verizon strung me along for months and then finally screwed me over. I won’t be using them any time soon.

I’ve never known a cable TV provider or telecom provider whose customer service didn’t suck (Comcast by far the worst). That being said, FiOS is a good product.

there’s a world of difference between “sucky customer service” and being lied to for 3 months before they finally fessed up and said “Yeah, we’re not going to give you that service.”

No Fios in Sausalito, California for the near future. I’d be on top of that stuff in a second if they did come out here.

Slightly OT mini-rant about Vs. coverage:
I got to re-watch Game Two of Caps/Pens last week, and was surprised to discover I hadn’t previously noticed how lame their graphics package was. The two biggest stars in the league each scored a hat trick that night, and Vs. couldn’t even locate an old copy of Word Art to make a hat trick graphic and figure out how to flash it on the screen.
Boring!

Really? Call me old school but I think a hat trick is exciting enough. I don’t need some crappy 3D graphics flashing HAT TRICK (THAT MEANS 3 GOALS)
The announcing and watching the players celebrate is what makes it cool.

Agreed. I can’t think of a way they could have made it look good.

My neighbor once scored 12 goals in a pickup hockey game. We called it a pig trick.
How’s that for off topic?

OK so a robot comes out with a top hat. He takes his hat and throws it in the air like he’s skeet shooting. While the hat is in the air the robot fires of a slap shot, a wrist shot, and a backhand, all hitting the hat. Flash bulbs bordering the screen all start popping and a sign worthy of a casino slot machine starts flashing “HAT TRICK” on the screen. By the time it’s over you’ve missed the ensuing face off, haven’t seen one replay of the goal, and don’t know who got the assists. But casual fans will definitely have a better idea of what hockey’s about. Sounds about right…
