I'm probably in the best shape I've ever been in. For me, it's about building up that foundation that I lost. Whether it was injury or another reason, the last three summers, I haven't really been able to get after it. But this summer I have. And it's a good feeling.

Great to hear re: Pothier. On a side note, you know you have a problem when you’re refreshing a hockey blog in July to find out what Milan Jurcina’s arbitration award was.
Yeah, I noticed JP has that same sentiment twitter. We are a truly sad bunch, aren’t we?
I figured early on that Pothier was the only one in town all summer as he’s turned up everywhere.
truer words were never written.
You can't reason someone out of something they weren't reasoned into.
and we don't have to wait anymore

Ha – and I thought I was cynical for thinking ‘’every professional athlete is ’in the best shape [they’ve] ever been in’ every offseason".
That’s pretty much what I Tweeted when I first saw the Tarik post – "Just once I’d like to hear an athlete say, “Y’know, I’ve really let myself go.” RT @TarikElBashir Pothier… in the best shape of his life."

Find me a Redskin, and I’ll find you a Redskin in the best shape of his life. Or, at least, one who’s dropped some weight.
* The owner is in shape. From Adam Schefter’s Twitter feed: “After spending some time with Dan Snyder, the one thing I can report is: the man is in top shape. He’s ready for camp.”
* The offensive line is in shape. Rick Maese reported that four men combined to lose 156 pounds this offseason.
* Clinton Portis is in shape. He said today that he took and passed his conditioning test this morning.
* Fred Davis is in shape. The second-year tight end told me that he did less weight work and more running in the offseason.
* And, most extensively, Malcolm Kelly is in shape…etc. etc.
Have a skate day!
Just wondering, but if a player says he’s in the “best shape ever” isn’t he admitting he wasn’t working that hard earlier in his career. But hey, an in-shape and motivated Pothier can only mean good things for the Caps.
Not if the guy was in sub-par shape because of an injury. Pothier hasn’t been able to work out full-tilt for over 2 years now so it wasn’t realistic to expect him to be in top shape when he finally returned to the lineup. Everyone loves to rag on Kyle Wellwood but he was coming off of a couple leg injuries when the whole Fatgate thing blew up.
