ESPN The Magazine ranks the Washington Capitals as the sixth best franchise...
...in all of sports!
Also notable are #2 and #8 on the list. Didn't know this annual issue existed until now, but still a very nice bit of publicity for Ted and the rest of the organization.

Give assists to Washington’s first conference semi since 1998, the emergence of 2008 Hart winner Alex Ovechkin as the league’s top attraction and the introduction of the Red Rockers, a classy spirit squad that greets fans before every home game.
one of these things is not like the others.

also notable (pointed out by thom loverro):
The Redskins were listed at 92, followed by the Nationals at 97 and the Wizards at 98, out of 122 franchises.
count me surprised the wiz ranked lower than the nats.

I’m guessing new stadium…which supposedly leads to better fan experience. Not to mention bang for the buck…a ticket to a Wizards game costs about the same as a ticket to both the Nats and Caps (in the same general area of the stadiums).

The nats at least attempt to win games, right up until the bullpen comes in. The Wiz are losing from the moment the game starts.
Besides, the bars in the outfield really do help ease the pain! The VC doesn’t have that.

I love that the Nats are ranked higher than the Yankees, though.

Most important tidbit for me? Ted gets 5th best owner. Gotta love that

let me just laugh that the Pittsburgh Penguins were ranked 4th in “Ownership: Honesty and Loyalty to Core Players and Local Community”! Apparently, they’ve forgotten the wonderful job of lying and blackmailing Mario & Friends pulled on the city.
