ESPN The Magazine ranks the Washington Capitals as the sixth best franchise...
...in all of sports!
Also notable are #2 and #8 on the list. Didn't know this annual issue existed until now, but still a very nice bit of publicity for Ted and the rest of the organization.

Give assists to Washington’s first conference semi since 1998, the emergence of 2008 Hart winner Alex Ovechkin as the league’s top attraction and the introduction of the Red Rockers, a classy spirit squad that greets fans before every home game.
one of these things is not like the others.
also notable (pointed out by thom loverro):
The Redskins were listed at 92, followed by the Nationals at 97 and the Wizards at 98, out of 122 franchises.
count me surprised the wiz ranked lower than the nats.
I’m guessing new stadium…which supposedly leads to better fan experience. Not to mention bang for the buck…a ticket to a Wizards game costs about the same as a ticket to both the Nats and Caps (in the same general area of the stadiums).
I love that the Nats are ranked higher than the Yankees, though.
