Happy Birthday to Us
Four years ago today, Japers' Rink was born. Thanks to all of you who make it worthwhile for us to keep at it and who know, like we do, that the best is yet to come.

Back in the dark ages before the internet, these would be the slowest days of the year. Now, thanks to sites like Japers, the off-season flies by. Congrats on what I think is the most intelligent blog in hockey. And let’s hope next year at this time we’re trying to figure out how the Caps will be able to defend the Cup.
Here’s to 4 years of getting great blogging, and being able to get my daily Caps fill without having to dissect it like a novel (sorry, OFB).
Thank you all for thanking us for thanking you.

Picture it: late in a tie game, the the puck rolls into the corner to Olie Kolzig’s left.
Aw, man. The first sentence written for digital posterity has a typo? :)
How do you feel about the lack of the two-line pass, now, JP?

Yeah, I was mostly wrong. Oops.

Happy Birthday, Japer’s! You do the research that I should do on my own!
WIthout you, my posts would be even more vague and with less stats!
Thumbs up, guys!

Always quality stuff...
We’re blessed to follow a great Caps team, and we have some superb blogosphere partners. Certainly your esteemed group, Peerless, and the OFB gang really round out the hockey experience. In fact, my hockey knowledge has grown immensely from the aforementioned blogs.
Best wishes and thanks again.
No matter how much we rag on OFB, they’re not as bad as CI or the boards. I mean, really. They need credit for not being the bottom of the barrel.

Reading some of the old archive posts from the “beginning” regarding the uncertainty of Ovechkin’s signing in the period immediately post lockout are interesting to say the least.
While, when looking back to early days of this very blog, it seems like quite a while ago, let’s not forget that when you consider everything this organization has accomplished since then is nothing short of amazing.
Losing to Pittsburgh was tough this year, and JP, I think I can speak for all of us that frequent this site regularly that we share the same wish…
JP, via Twitter:
The ol’ blog turns four-years-old today – guess what we’re wishing for as we blow out the candles
Still, reading stuff like this really helps to put things in perspective and realize just how lucky we, as Caps fans, really are right now.

Outside of signing AO, the Caps have plenty of work to do. Only nine players are under contract, and those that aren’t include key veterans Jeff “Everything I Know About Hockey I Learned From Playing With Mike Spero” Halpern, Dainius Zubrus and Captain Brendan Witt. Obviously the top priority is Ovechkin. Once that deal gets done, I’ll be able to exhale.
