That’ll be interesting when he walks into the room to meet Dubinsky, eh?

Blair Betts
Think he’s gonna welcome him with open arms?

Betts is a UFA, is he not? Might not be back in New York.

Good for Brash
Happy hunting, Donald.

Brashear should send Brian Burke a nice thank you gift, who signed Colton Orr to a four year deal at $1 m. per.

Well, that’s not at all what I expected.
I think it may be an interesting sign about where Washington is headed, vs. where NYR is headed. And I’m happier to be on our side of that equation. (This assumes, of course, that GMGM doesn’t go out and buy a replacement enforcer, which I sure hope he doesn’t.)

1.4?
Really?

Good for Donald, but seems like too much for a 4th liner at his age

Good for him, and I wish him nothing but the best. IMO, Brash is an upgrade over Colton Orr even at his age.
Thanks for your time as a Cap, man, and for dual beatdowns of Riley Cote in one day.

I always thought Brash was a bit overpaid for his role… yet he got another 200k a year out of NY, so good for him.
As long as our fourth line can keep the wicked cycle going, I’m okay with this move.

Best of luck to Brash – seems like a great guy, I just don’t think he was needed here any longer at that price.

With Brashear and Avery in the room, they better work on their PK unit some more.

Poor Bradley. You know that fight’s coming…

Why would Bradley fight Brashear?
by David M. Getz on Jul 1, 2009 4:02 PM EDT up reply actions 0 recs
Yes, he’d have to accept the fight, but lets talk about it over beers watching Caps hockey in May 2010.

How about June?

How about June? ;)
I went out on a limb that Brashear and Bradley would not have the opportunity to meet in June
(barring any parking lot fisticuffs on personal time).
During the regular season there isn’t enough on the line or enough to prove between these two teams that most likely neither player would feel the need to accept a fight when the other wanted one until post-season. Doesn’t speak for the unexpected or someone having something to prove though

I doubt Brash would even challenge Bradley to a fight…totally different weight classes.
by Yoshietree on Jul 1, 2009 5:01 PM EDT up reply actions 0 recs
Agree. Brash would never challenge Brads. Erskine, yes. But not Brads, unless for some reason it evolved from a massive furball.

Why do any of these guys fight? Most of the time, none of the reasons have any thing to do with the current game…
uhh...uhh...uhh...

WHAT? Questioning fighting in hockey?

My Rags fan friends are furious based on the money and length alone, let alone the Betts incident.

Where’s Scotty Hockey to weigh in? :)

He’s over at his site, spitting mad at Sather. I can’t really blame him. Baffling move by the Rangers.

overpay much? wow…glad we didn’t send 1.4. I like him, but not that much.

Best of luck Brash. Have fun beating on the Pens and Flyers a couple of extra times each year.
Because now I can justify browsing and commenting during the work day with the argument that I am promoting my business.

Christ, TSN’s McKenzie just reported that David freakin’ Koci just got a deal with COL. 1 yr/$575K.
Orr, Brashear, Laperriere, Koci. So much for the one-dimensional enforcer role going away. I was never really in that camp anyway, but these contracts plus the PA not approving the staged fight rule change at the recent Vegas meetings speaks volumes.
by Cluster on Jul 1, 2009 5:17 PM EDT reply actions 0 recs
Laperriere doesn’t belong in that group. He can play hockey.

And...
Wasn’t it just last week GMGM pointed out he thought the price for “tough guys” was going down? By my mathmatecial understanding 1.4>1 …
Interestingly, Brash doesn’t fit the Rangers usual tough guy profile Fotiu, Orr, etc… he plays more than 2 min per game and he can skate….
Good for Brash, a good deal for a good guy.
