"I'm hearing that McPhee and Co. have some interest in Landon Ferraro, who is among the players interviewed by the Caps, a league source told me moments ago. A right wing from Red Deer of the WHL and the son of former NHLer Ray Ferraro, he's also one of the fastest players in the draft and he's a shooter. A number of people I've talked to suggest that the younger Ferraro could eventually give the Caps the scoring threat from the right side they lack in the system right now."

Not interested unless he has a twin brother we can also have on the team.
And unrelated,
Aren’t the Caps already leading the league in “son of/younger brother of” prospects?

…and his headfakes. Correct me if I’m wrong, but isn’t Ferraro rated/slated right around where we pick? I say herring

I don’t know about herring because it wouldn’t be a shock no matter what. When you’re picking when the Capitals are you’re looking at a dozen different guys, if not more.
Indeed he does. TEB talked about that on WaPoLive last night.

bloodlines...
… great for thoroughbred development, maybe not such a great angle for hockey players. : )

Interesting. Ferraro was neither a choice in your Pick ‘Em, nor a guy “to watch” in DMG’s draft primer. I’m not trying to call you out, just curious as to why he wasn’t on your radar screen?
Ferarro’s stat line wasn’t that impressive, but what the heck do I know.
Because now I can justify browsing and commenting during the work day with the argument that I am promoting my business.

He wasn’t one of my guys to watch just because I didn’t think he was as interesting as some other guys and I didn’t want to include every projected first rounder, just for the sake of length; wasn’t a Pick ‘Em because he’d already been picked by Calgary in the SBN Mock Draft (which is where I think he’ll go on Friday, barring trades).
That makes sense. I neglected to go back and check the prior picks.

He wasn’t one of the Pick ’Em guys because he was already off the SBN Mock Draft board. He definitely would have been.

great story and link, sir! my buddies were feebly sitting around trying to figure this out during the playoffs. I think we came up with Modano and Sakic, so we were missing a few LOL

I actually like duplicitous George when it comes to hiding his hand. But here’s a refreshing example of openness (with the media, at least).
