Time to move Brooks Laich?
Of course not. But... Laich was drafted in the sixth round of the 2001 Entry Draft, 193rd overall, by the Ottawa Senators and, to date, not a single Sens draftee has won a Stanley Cup (though Marian Hossa can - and with any luck will - bust that goose egg tomorrow night).

Nice weird stat find, JP. If Hossa doesn’t break the jinx tomorrow, maybe Laich will in 2010.
Let's go Caps!

that is truly a bizzare stat. I wonder what the bell curve looks like for other franchises.
Because now I can justify browsing and commenting during the work day with the argument that I am promoting my business.
I was thinking of trying to figure out the Caps’ draftees who’ve won it, but the task was daunting (not to mention depressing cough Scott Stevens cough).

haha well that would be less depressing if he only counted as 1 player who a cup, rather than looking at total number of cups won by drafted playters…

Particularly the other teams that have never won the Cup. (The lucky 13.)

Interesting stat…as to the Caps question…
In addition, to the player mentioned, without taking the daunting task on of looking past the ones I could recall after thinking about this for a few minutes…
The 2 players moved in the Langway deal were both Caps picks, Walter and Green, and both won a Stanley Cup with Montreal. Carpenter as a player and then as an asst coach with the NJD. Tim Taylor with Detroit and TBL.
I’m not sure who else – if anyone – there is. I had thought Woolley might have been on a DET Cup winner, but he wasn’t.

The only one you missed was Mats Hallin. Well done.
