I have to think Kuntz will be suspended for that X-check. Colin Campbell’s reasoning for Brash’s suspension: “Brashear delivered a shoulder hit to an unsuspecting player.” Stick to the goalie’s throat has to be worse, no?
Looks like a shot to the head to me. From my understanding the league is cracking down on such penalties.

yeah, its the very definition of what they’re trying to crack down on, but taking away a wing from Pitt’s top line will make all the journo’s and tin foil hat wearers cry conspiracy that the league wants Ovechkin int he finals blah blah. I don’t think Campbell has the stones to make the call but we’ll see.
On a different topic, I thought Brown’s hit was way worse than Brashears, the only difference is Hudler didn’t smack his face on the ice when he fell.

Good to see though that BB says he will send that tape to the league. I think after the first time he complained about the refs in the NHL and got fined, BB has been a little soft about doing anything about the refs.
Last series the Rangers sent several things to the league, of course including Brash’s hit. As far as we know, the Caps didn’t send anything. We all know that the Penguins will send stuff to the league, and that Crosby will have an ongoing whinefest with the refs throughout the series. Glad to see the Caps address this as well, it IS part of the game.
Meh. Crosby’s great play shouldn’t be tarnished any further by his teammate’s thuggery.

agreed. Pretty sick goal out of mid air.

The ref is standing 3 feet away looking at the play. How do you miss that??
Still, I will be absolutely shocked if there is a peep about it from the league.

I tend to agree, but think that the upshot of this whole incident is that the refs will be looking at Pens around the net with a little more scrutiny, I’d think. And while having Kunitz out for a game or two would be nice, a well-timed power play might be nicer.

Unfortunately, I have very little confidence that the Pens will be disallowed from abusing our goalie.

Situational reffing. Pens were 2 goals down and trying to make a furious comeback. The ref isn’t going to kill the comeback right there by handing the Caps a PP. This is a descriptive statement, not a normative statement. That’s just how NHL refs work nowadays.
That’ll show him.
Dude makes $3.7m per year. He literally makes $2,500 while sleeping every night.
Joke.
