Hershey Trip?
Well, the Calder Cup Finals schedule is announced. Games 3 and 4 will be Saturday and Sunday, June 6th, and 7th, in Hershey:
Game 1 – Sat., May 30 – Hershey at Manitoba, 8:30
Game 2 – Tue., June 2 – Hershey at Manitoba, 8:30
Game 3 – Sat., June 6 – Manitoba at Hershey, 7:00
Game 4 – Sun., June 7 – Manitoba at Hershey, 5:00
*Game 5 – Tue., June 9 – Manitoba at Hershey, 7:00
*Game 6 – Fri., June 12 – Hershey at Manitoba, 8:30
*Game 7 – Sun., June 14 – Hershey at Manitoba, 8:30
I'm thinking of going up for at least one of those games, and a large group might be able to get a better rate. Anyone else interested in a jaunt up I-83 to ChocolateTown and maybe a day at Hersheypark? Comment here if you are.

Would love to go, but its my first daughter’s first birthday on June 6. I thought about celebrating her birthday by introducing her to the sport of hockey, but that won’t fly with the wife.

For those that are familiar with the area, can you post some recommendations for hotel/motels near the rink? Last time I checked, the Hershey resort near the amusement park was fairly steep in price and we’re trying to maintain an AHL-level budget for this trip…
Also, any estimate on what the tix will be running?
Thanks everyone!
Ooops. Forgot to ask where Post-Game will be at for Game 3 also… : ]

There’s a Super 8 just outside of Harrisburg that has been recommended to me. Most of the hotels in Hershey proper will be a little pricey this time of year, but hit hotels.com and see what’s out there. Harrisburg is only about 15 minutes out from Hershey.
Tix are $23.00 for lower level and $17 for upper-level. I just got mine.
As for post-game, no idea. We could do Houlihan’s if folks are up for that, or if you know of another watering-hole, I’m fine with that too.

Here’s a budget-friendly lodging option.

NICE!!!
“It’s 106 miles (or so) to Hershey… we’ve got a full tank of gas, half a pack of cigarettes, it’s dark out and we’re wearing sunglasses.”
“HIT IT!!!”
Thank you everyone for the tips, hopefully I can pack up the little lady and come up to see game 3!!!
I’m debating going Saturday b/c I’m not sure how much energy I’ll have Friday after covering the US Air Guitar regional championships in DC. Love to do Sunday if somehow we’d win in four and I could see a celebration, but I’m yearning for some pick-up hockey that day.
Btw, if you have the cash (or credit) for a Hershey Bears jersey, don’t stop at the pro shop up front. Walk the concourse and around the ladies’ restroom there’s a stand that has authentic jerseys with the tie-downs and the 70th anniversary patch from last season. They cost as much as a regular jersey and thankfully had sizes large enough to fit my goalie chest protector under.
I’m going Saturday, folks – would love to meet up during the game if possible, but my friend has her daughter with her and the odds of me escaping for post-game festivities are pretty slim if she can’t go and take her kid with her.
I may try anyway. We’ll see. I’d ike to get a jersey, but I’m holding off because I’d like to get it customized, and let’s wait and see if the player I want will still be in Hershey next year, eh? :)

My girlfriends and I are going to the game Saturday. We’ll be tail gating beforehand if it doesn’t pour like mad like the last time we tried this. :)
We stayed at a Best Western nearby last time and it was fine.
How are they about tailgating, anyway? Strict or lax?

Their policies don’t mention it and I’ve seen people doing it before. It’s probably okay.

I’m hoping “red solo cups and we’re cool” is their unspoken policy.

Called the box office to ask. Tailgating is permitted, but no open flames and no alcohol. I asked about a portable camp grill, and they thought that might be okay. Sounds like it’s pretty limited, though.

Well, there are rules and then there’s enforcement thereof…

I thought that was the policy at the old Vet Stadium in Philly when I was in high school and went to a Page & Plant concert. I was wrong.
/still bitter even though it’s been expunged

i think the hoagster and i are going to try to head up for saturday’s game as well – if i can sneak out of bridesmaid dress shopping early ;) i know at least he and his girlfriend and her brother are planning on going. should be a good time – i’m hoping i can convince one of the youngins to drive so i can celebrate – my last teacher workday of the year is friday, and then i’m done!
Sounds like there’s a lot of people going to game 3. I went ahead and got my tickets for game 3, but I’d still like to hook up with folks if other people are so inclined.

Do you really want me to be? XD
But fair enough. It was my idea. Tell you what – there’s a group of tables outside section 115-116. Let’s meet there at first intermission?

Sounds good. I’ll be out there in a Caps T-shirt with Alzner/27 on the back.

Lots to Laich there for both of you.

The family got mine for my birthday last summer. I had been leaning away from getting Ovechkin because everybody has Ovechkin. I was leaning towards Laich, or even Fedorov, but my daughter talked me out of it. Having been away at school, she wasn’t too up to date on the little details of the team. So, after being home this year and going to the games, she changed her tune.
Hmmm. I know this may sound overly forward, and I apologize if it is, but what do you guys think of doing a sort of potluck tailgate party before the game? Tailgating’s okay with the alcohol restriction, but then I’m going to have teenagers with me anyway.

I’d be pretty interested. Actually, I kind of used that as a selling point with my Fiancee to get her to come. We’re not necessarily the kind who need alcohol to prime up anyway.
I'm so sick and tired of the refs explaining the calls like this is the NFL.
Question from a guy who’s never been to a Bears game – my only AHL experience was the Norfolk Admirals during the Lockout year.
Would it be wrong to wear a Caps jersey to a Bears game, or should I try and find something of a certain color?
Thanks.

I'll be at game 3...
…most likely wearing a red Jim Carey sweater. Should be fun.

not sure if you’ll look back here, but were you in section 211?

We'll be there
My two friends and I are heading up for games 3 and 4 and would totally be interested in tailgating and/or meeting up after game 3. We have been up to Hershey 3 other times and had a really good time. There are a lot of people who wear CAPS stuff, which is usually what we do, but in our last trip finally bought some Bears gear to sport. Let us know if and where people are meeting before/after the game.
Agreed. Coming up from NOVA, so would prefer to get a pre-game thing. Would be awesome to get a JP’s Commenters Tailgate thing.
