A pretty good article from Ted with a collection of great fan emails that boils down to:
So — basically — if we follow the logic of the collective wisdom of the crowds via these emails over the last 5 days — I would sell the team — but before I do — I would fire George and Bruce — and get rid of every player but Alex Ovechkin and Nicklas Backstrom.

That was my fav. too. I actually chuckled out loud a little bit.

I find it amazing that Ted really reads through all these terrible emails. He is either or a combination of the following attributes: a glutton for punishment, extremely bored with nothing, inbox is used for comedic value, has a PA that saves all the best mails for him, deeply concerned with all issues which come addressed to him.

I receive about 1500 mails a day on a highly public account and probably only read 2% after the filters flag all the good stuff for reading.

these posts come every few months from ted’s take. i always chalk them up to ted being (1) very eager to please, (2) hyperconscious, (3) noticably defensive. i know he plays it cool, but the fact that he draws our attention to these emails so regularly makes me think they are wounding him on a personal level. for such a public persona, i would imagine he’d have developed a really thick skin by now. of course, with respect to my #1, i’d guess looking over every email helps him as an owner more than it hurts him.

in other news….you receive 1500 emails a day?? are you matt drudge? bill simmons?

Yeah, I read his site a lot. It’s like whenever they come through he’s been reading all of his mails the whole time and then it’s like the next batch is the last straw and he boils over.
I wouldn’t be surprised if these hurt him on the personal level. He’s shown that he’s very emotional (who could ever forget him hitting a fan?) and is a fan of the team as much as us.

Heh, I’m just a dude that loves watching and playing hockey. I in no way have a site that gets millions of hits a day. =]

Erskine is slow, Steckel is slow????

Has this person seen Jurcina skate? Or Schultz?

Of course, they sit there and probably remember the good ol’ days of great skating defensemen like Joe Reekie and Mark Tinordi… neither of whom were great skaters, but did a great job on the backline and were very effective.

Erskine is pretty slow. The bring Witt back was the funny part to me.

It’ll take a lot for me to bag on Erskine again though. He was just a warrior in the playoffs.

Erskine is slow, but Jurcina is “Reekie-slow”. Even then, you can play many years in the NHL skating like Joe Reekie… after all, Joe Reekie played many years in the NHL and was a rock solid defenseman for most of them. Even when the Caps were awful in 1998-99 (the year after they made the finals), Reekie still had a positive +/- for the season.

Erskine isn’t that slow, but he has good sense and positions himself well. Plus he gets to the puck and arrives angry… always a good thing. If Juice played more angry, he’d be a better player. He got good and angry agains the Rangers (h/t to Sean Avery) and it showed, his game got better….

Let's go Caps!

Oh and by the way...

…if you haven’t seen the new “Star Trek” movie, see it. My wife and I went last Sunday and it was a great time…

You may recall that after signing with the Caps this summer but before reporting to training camp in September, BMo took a trip to the Canadian wilderness for charity.
