How well is M. Neuvirth playing? (Wow.)
Last night the Hershey Bears defeated the WBS Pens 3-0 in Game Seven of their second-round series. Michael Neuvirth, he of the lightning glove-hand, notched the shutout.
Here's the hot stat: Neuvirth shut out WBS in both Games Six and Seven, the first time an AHL goalie has ever shut out a team in both G6 and G7 of a series. This is not a rinky-dink, gimmicky little achievement: The AHL has been around since 1936.

“Anything you can do, I can do better. I can do anything better than you.”
(Imaginary text from Neuvy to Varly last night after the game.)
Here’s the highlights from last night. Not many saves shown, though.
Neuvirth is Playoff Proven
One thing I like about Neuvirth is that he seems to be a clutch playoff goalie. In 2006 he took Plymouth to the Memorial Cup with a 14-4 record, 2.45 GAA and .932 SVPCT. In 2007 he went 7-2 for Oshawa (remember he was injured and playing for a team that had no defense) with a 2.48 GAA and .932 SVPCT. This year he has improved those stats even more.
