Around SBN: Trent Richardson Interviews Fellow Brown Brandon Weeden

There is one more Mike Green Edition Stealth in existence: the one he used to set the NHL record for consecutive games with a goal by a defenseman earlier this season.

That stick was earmarked for the Hockey Hall of Fame. But I'm hearing the stick could be back in Green's hands on Wednesday.

Epic!

The caps really need some extra luck, and if reuniting Green with that stick provides some extra juju I’m all for it.

I dont’ believe in those kinda things, but if Green does and it will help him get his mojo back, then hell yeah!

Obviously the key is Wednesday, but without my certain favorite brand and model of running shoes, I’m running slower, no doubt.

To get to Wednesday, we need to win Monday!

Wednesday? Better take care of business tonight or else that Edition Stealth stick will have more use replacing his old Ping iWi putter

by Cluster on May 11, 2009 2:47 PM EDT reply actions

Great, he’ll have it in time for the street hockey game at his plush condo. Just joking. I still believe.

This could become the stuff of legend.

I guess those HoF heat lamps are killer, then.

by DrinkingPartner on May 11, 2009 3:11 PM EDT up reply actions

Question, why did they discontinue the sticks and why can’t he get them to specially make some for him? I’d say it’s worth the money if he can get it done.

by Nicci on May 11, 2009 3:31 PM EDT reply actions

Easton stopped making the model he was using as part of the update to their product line.

by David Getz on May 11, 2009 3:59 PM EDT up reply actions

Those stealth sticks were old a year ago. There are new ones, I don’t get why they can’t be made to similar specifications.

by zephyr on May 11, 2009 3:36 PM EDT reply actions

All high end sticks (with some exception) are generally the same.

I’m not sure what stick Green is using now, but if it’s the S17, that’s just a Stealth with a new sticker put on it.

by Mobsky on May 11, 2009 3:59 PM EDT up reply actions

You’re right but not on this one. The S17 is a lot different. Some of the guys on my team are still clutching on to their last Stealths.

I would just think if this was so important to Green he could shell out some cash to have the S17 built like a Stealth.

by zephyr on May 11, 2009 4:05 PM EDT up reply actions

I believe the S17 is heavier than the Stealth. It’s not that Green can’t adapt, it’s that this is the wrong time for him to adapt.

Staying on sticks...

i wish Ovechkin would get used to wooden sticks…

by DrinkingPartner on May 11, 2009 3:38 PM EDT reply actions

His shot wouldn’t be nearly as dangerous but I guess he might get more shots (is that even possible??)

by zephyr on May 11, 2009 4:08 PM EDT up reply actions

I would be happy if he and Semin just stopped using sticks that have holes in them.

by meatball20 on May 11, 2009 4:10 PM EDT up reply actions

Does getting his old stick back mean no more brain-dead passes? He’s been atrocious in both the NYR and Pens serious in that regard.

by cuqui on May 11, 2009 3:43 PM EDT reply actions

I bought two of Green’s sticks during the ‘07 summer equipment sale. I’d give one back to him but a) they’re both pretty badly used and b) he changed to a deeper curve in ‘08, so the ’07 model wouldn’t be of much help.

That said, I’ve always wondered how Green plays defense (and gets off a decent backhand) with such a curved blade. “Elite NHL hands” is the only thing I could think of.

Penguins believe in Satan

Ok. So it’s a reference to Miroslav Satan…but I had to laugh at that title. :0)

by Bucky Katt-Luvs Caps on May 11, 2009 4:17 PM EDT reply actions

I can honestly say, as a 22 year old (and I remember vividly the ’98 playoffs), that this is the most important playoff series of my life.

I have never felt so attached to one team. And I would never in a million years trade this team for a different team. God bless the Washington Capitals. Tonight will end like it should – us celebrating in unsafe ways, Penguins’ fans ruminating about another a trip to Washington.

15 minutes still and I’m already freaking out.

by Ovechwin on May 11, 2009 6:45 PM EDT reply actions

Welllllll Green didn’t use the stick even though they drove it to the igloo. He said he is used to the new ones now.
