What’s with our prospects lacerating their spleens?

by snowburnt on Apr 7, 2009 12:43 PM EDT reply actions

Laing is no prospect, but that was basically my implication on the likelihood of it happening to two guys in the org – crazy (especially since things happen in threes…).

at least it wasn’t Carlson or Alzner…

So does this make it harder to trade him over the summer or will teams still take him since this is an injury that players normally have a full recovery from?

Have you ever tried to trade a spleenless player? Man, it is tough. No one wants a dude without a spleen, no one.

Sean Avery and Peter Forsberg both have no spleens. And I’d be glad to have Laing back on the team next year. My concern with Lepisto (aside from his health, which is mitigated by the fact that he probably will suffer no lasting detriment from this) is his trade value. I thought he was a prime guy to be traded to move up in the draft this summer. We shall see.

Let's go Caps!

Damn! Maybe the Caps need to invent a spleen guard. :-)

Hope the guy is ok and then I hope he finds his way to another organization. Like others have mentioned I hope this hasn’t hurt his trade value.

Evgeny Kuznetsov hams it up as he joins the Russia men's national team for the "Sweden Games" leg of the Euro Hockey Tour in Helsinki, Finland.

There's a bit of controversy as their game against the Finns is scheduled to be played in Helsinki's outdoor Olympic Stadium. Where the daytime temps are currently approximately minus-15 degrees Celsius, with periodic heavy snow.

This interview with head coach Zinetula Bilyaletdinov is fascinating, as he frets about the weather and especially when the reporters press him on the leaked reports that Kuznetsov will be centering the top line for Team Russia, just weeks after his 20th birthday.
