Notice for whoever is sitting behind the Rangers bench tonight!
This is a notice for everyone who has tickets in the first few rows behind the Rangers bench tonight. PLEASE wear some sort of shower caps and/or ponchos and heckle the hell out of Coach Tortorella!!
(i need to add more words to make this fan post seventy five words so I'm just blabbering now. I run the SB Nation for the Redskins blog if anyone cares about that.)
If this FanPost is written by someone other than one of the blog's authors, the opinions expressed in it do not necessarily reflect those of this blog or SB Nation.

Definitely, protect yourself but rock the red

I have a red poncho in my car for emergencies. I should wear it just in case Torts decides to toss a water bottle up to section 421
Good one!

Great idea! I think those can be had at Target for less than a buck each…if I wasn’t going straight from work to the game I’d try to grab a handful.

i’ll check out a target on my way down

anybody know where we can buy some for cheap? I’d be happy to chip in and buy a bunch and hand them out before the game to people in the first 2 rows behind the bench.

Target has them...
I just called the Target in Columbia Heights (right next to the Columbia Heights metro)…they do have them in stock.
I can’t make it since I’ll be stuck at work til game…anyone coming that way? they’re the clear ones so you can still rock the red.
by KevinE on Apr 28, 2009 10:46 AM EDT reply actions 0 recs
Online it says it's $8.99
the website says they have the red ones too…they look to be high quality than the $2 ones you see at hardware stores and what not.

well crap, I was going to spend $40 or so and forego beers at the game but 4 ponchos wouldn’t have the same impact as 20 (assuming they were $2). I’m going to try and look around at lunch time. Maybe some discount place has some.

The ones I’ve bought from there before are similar to these:
http://www.osograndeknives.com/coleman%20outdoor%20products/coleman_-_disposable_rain_poncho.htm
I’m pretty sure the ones I bought from Target were made by Coleman but I’m not 100% certain. Either way, they were flimsy disposable ones that were less than a dollar, as exemplified by the fact that they more or less shredded to pieces after a single wearing. I searched the Target website and didn’t see anything, but they might have something else in the store. I think the key is to look for a cheapie disposable, rather than a somewhat nicer one intended for re-use.

I just called Target back...
cheapest ones they have are $8.99. I live in Chinatown and called some of the novelty stores…but no luck there either.
KMart has the $4.99 red ones if anyone lives near one of those (Silver Spring, Fairfax)

I can swing by on my way down from Baltimore. If people are willing to pitch in, I’ll clean them out of every poncho in stock.

i saw orange blue and white online but no red….
by Sombrero Guy on Apr 28, 2009 12:19 PM EDT up reply actions 0 recs
has to be red. is there a student on this blog that can find time to hunt these down?

Dang, you're right...
SethB made a good point, dollar stores maybe.

paging all college park residents….
I will do my best to skip out of work early and raid some dollar stores in Greenbelt on my way down.
by Sombrero Guy on Apr 28, 2009 12:32 PM EDT up reply actions 0 recs
Hmm…I wonder if an outdoors place might have something. Or maybe even Wal-Mart. The Target ones I got previously were from the location in Greenbelt, and it was about a year ago that I bought them- I guess they don’t carry them anymore.
by Kerry Fraser's Hairspray on Apr 28, 2009 11:55 AM EDT up reply actions 0 recs
they probably carry them during MD football season (red makes sense for MD fans too)

Another possibility might be a CVS or Rite-Aid or something of that sort.
by Kerry Fraser's Hairspray on Apr 28, 2009 11:57 AM EDT up reply actions 0 recs
I think it would be awesome if we had a sea of red ponchos behind the bench
by snowburnt on Apr 28, 2009 11:32 AM EDT up reply actions 0 recs
anybody interested in helping out with this, put out some feelers on facebook status if you’re on there too…You never know if a non caps fan might have an idea

Check local dollar stores, I bet they have some.

I’m in California so I can’t be there, but I’ll Paypal $10 to help see this happen. I’ll trust JP, Pepper or DMG to tell me who to send the cash to. Anyone else care to contribute?
by Gould Old Days on Apr 28, 2009 1:22 PM EDT reply actions 0 recs
Absolutely. I’m in Boston so I’d have to paypal it over as well, but count me in for $10!

Sonny's Surplus Has Them...
…as will most other Army/Navy stores, ditto for REI and other outdoor camping stores. Usually for a lot less than $8.99

Someone should have a sign that reads: "Hey Torts! Don’t Sprayze Me, Bro!
I hate Pittsburgh. And the Pens too.

Gotta rec this, even though “Don’t Spray Me Bro!!” will also work…

I picked up 16 clear ponchos (couldn’t find red) they were like $3.20 each. Not to be cheap but I will be taking up some of you on your offers to chip in haha.
Gonna rush and make some signs real quick. I also bought 5 poster boards to pass out.
“Victims of
Water(bottle) Gate”
“Pass me A

I’m Thirsty”
“Forecast:

i i can’t take credit for the red ones. All i could find were clear, so bravo to whoever brought the others. I delivered mine during the first intermission along with 4 signs. Great effort all around by caps fans. I have never been in a louder building in my life.
