Paging Willis Reed, Part II
"If Donald Brashear is indeed suspended for Game 7 against the Rangers tomorrow night, I'm told there's a possibility that captain Chris Clark will suit up for the first time since Jan. 27." - Capitals Insider

Assuming the Caps move on, I’d love to see Clark contribute. When Flash, Nyls or Kozlov are not putting points on the board or at least consistently generating chances then they are doing nothing for you. Clark is no longer a scoring threat, but adding some grit and leadership would be a big boost moving forward.
Clark is no longer a scoring threat
I don’t know that that’s necessarily true. It all depends on his health and probably his linemates. If his groin is indeed 100% (or close to it), and he gets some decent ice time, he’s just as good a scorer as a Laich.

I don’t know. While I don’t see this move as a bad move, but I can still see how it might hurt the Caps. Players need some real action and game time to get back into it, let alone getting into playoffs shape and intensity.
Look at Danny boy up in Philly. He was very effective against the Caps last season in the playoffs. Since his return from injury this year, however, he has not been nearly as good as he used to be.
I’d rather see Aucoin or Beagle than Nylander or Brashear.
I’d rather see Clark than Aucoin or Beagle . . . assuming Clark really is physically ready. Given that guy’s ridiculous pain tolerance, you cannot trust a single thing he says about his own condition.

Has Brashear been that bad? What I don’t understand is how the pre-game “confrontation” is even being talked about. That was nothing, I’d be much more worried about the very late and possibly/probably questionable hit being the reason he sits.

Well, I don’t know if it is just me or if thre are more fans who are not that worried about Brashear being suspended. I know he brings physicality and toughness with him, but he does take some mindless and unnecessary peanlties that cost the team.
Plus, one of the NBC commentators talked about how the Caps were “avoiding” Avery and the Rangers in a way to deny them any fuel for the rally fire. If game 7 comes down who is going to play tougher and more physical, then it is a toss up between the two. If it is about talent and finesse, Caps by far and hands down have the upper edge.
From what I saw yesterday, Avery was avoiding the Caps much more than vice versa. He looked completely neutered, which made him totally ineffective. If the Rags are going to have a chance, they need to unleash the Avery and roll the dice that it does more good than harm.

Agreed
I hope the refs step in early and don’t tolerate any of it.
Soooooo
When do we find out about this whole suspension thing? Can’t remember how long it takes for these things to be announced usually?
Colin Campbell is probably just killing time before he hands out the suspension to give the impression that he hadn’t already made a decision before the hearing. Everyone know Brash is going to be suspended. Even Dean Evason just said on XM that Donald isn’t going to play in Game Seven. It’s all a game.
I’ve been wondering the same thing myself. I mean we all know what’s gonna happen, just tell us already!
We’ll find out about Brash after they make their decision on Mike Green to see if he
“turned the crank, which rotates a vertical gear, connected to a horizontal gear. As that gear turns, it pushes an elastic-loaded lever until it snaps back in place, hitting a swinging boot. This causes the boot to kick over a bucket, sending a marble down a zig-zagging incline which feeds into a chute. This leads the marble to hit a vertical pole, at the top of which is an open hand, palm-up, which is supporting a larger ball. The movement of the pole knocks the ball free to fall through a hole in its platform into a bathtub, and then through a hole in the tub onto one end of a seesaw. This catapults a diver on the other end into a tub which is on the same base as the barbed pole supporting the mouse cage. The movement of the tub shakes the cage free from the top of the pole and allows it to fall.”
Which then cause Mo to bite Duby.
