Yeah, pretty much anything off Dirt is good. Ridiculously underrated band.
I’d probably take Dam that River.
also: best MTV unplugged set ever. dare i say, better even than nirvana.

Bold claim. Not sure I can get on board. As amazing as that rendition of Would is, the Nirvana rendition of Where did you Sleep Last Night gives me crazy chills every time I hear it. Though Alice in Chains gets credit because Nirvana cheated a little bit. I think we can all agree that Heroin addiction is a key to a successful MTV Unplugged performance.
Ooooh. Damn close run thing. I’d give the nod to AIC by a hair because I think that Layne and Jerry’s vocal harmonies worked well with the whole acoustic shtick.
I am/was also a huge fan of Pearl Jam’s unplugged. That version of Porch is insanely good.
Oh, and add Porch to my list

Does their cover of the Ramones’ “I Believe in Miracles” count?
I kid.

Nice clip, but no chance in hell the best GNR song ever is a three-chord acoustic ditty.
Now, give me Rocket Queen from Live at the Ritz and we’re cookin’ with gas.

Rec’d Rocket Queen. This argument could go on forever. Estranged. Coma. Dead Horse. Locomotive. Mr. Brownstone. Don’t Damn Me. Pretty Tied Up. And of course, Welcome to the Jungle.
Alright, here’s the plan – swap out Flash for Slash and Kozzy for Izzy and we’re ready to rock tonight.

Addendum:
“Achilles’ Last Stand” by Zep.

Addendum to the Addendum:
“Mountain Song” by Jane’s Addiction. And “Three Days.” And a lot of other JA tunes.

Refused? Mogwai? Mastodon? Russian Circles? The Sword? Rec’d for your excellent taste.

Heh. I’d never heard of any of those bands (I assume they’re bands, but they could be DJs or Worlds of Warcraft characters for all I know).

Rec’d for saying they sound like WoW characters. I thought the same thing and don’t know anything about it.

Perhaps there should be a band named “Swedish Circles” after… well, you know.

But the first song keeps skipping and you begin to wonder whether it was made to be played in a different playback device…
And when you try to delete it from your hard drive, you get an error message that the file’s in use, even though you know that it’s not, so you finally realize that you’re stuck with it.

ha, nice call on Mastodon. just saw ’em at Coachella and they were pretty good
from the house that Red Jesus built
If you’re in the District, they’re coming to the 930 club May 12th. I’ll be there, and I’m pretty sure some other folks from here will be there as well.
If there isn’t a Caps game that night, I’ll probably be there.

Anything off of Ride the Lightning or Master of Puppets.
Anything off of Colors by Between the Buried and Me. Selkies by BTBAM.
Thrice: Vheissu or most of Artist in the Ambulance.
Deftones: Adrenaline
Hockey and Music
More than other sports, I’d argue that hockey has a musical aesthetic. I can’t tell you the number of Caps fans/season ticket holders I run into at shows…
I was thinking about doing the same thing this morning. In no order:
Can’t Hold Back – Aceyalone
If You Want Blood – AC/DC
Rock Steady – Aretha Franklin
I Know You Got Soul – Bobby Byrd
Wild in the Streets – Circle Jerks
Lux Aeterna – Clint Mansell (From Requiem for a Dream soundtrack)
This Perfect Day – The Fall
Your Pretty Face is Going to Hell – Iggy Pop
Move Your Feet – Junior Senior
The Fight Song – Marilyn Manson
I’m Gonna Kick Your Ass – Moistboyz
Cruising for a Bruising – Rev. Horton Heat
Rocks Off – Stones
Somebody’s Gonna Get Their Head Kicked In Tonight – The Rezillos
Are You Ready – Sly & the Family Stone
Stooges Party – Stooges Brass Band
Blood Music – Deadboy & the Elephantmen

Kudos to you sir for the Blood Brothers inclusion.

Seattle band, Seattle boy. :) Hard to pick one, but that’s probably the most “amping” of their songs due to the rhythm-forward nature of it.
Tell me that Pinhead Circus one is a cover…

I’m going to have to give it a spin. I’m a junkie for unique covers (Bowie’s White Light/White Heat gets a lot of play on the crackbox).

Alright, here's mine:
I just threw this together in a couple seconds, but it would definitely be a solid “Run Through A Brick Wall” mix for me:
The Dillinger Escape Plan- Panasonic Youth
Converge- Fault and Fracture
An Albatross- I am the Lazer Viking
The Blood Brothers- Cecilia and the Silhouette Saloon
At the Drive-In- Arc Arsenal
Darkest Hour- The Sadist Nation
Bane- Ali v. Frazier I
The Tony Danza Tap Dance Extravaganza- My Bowling Ball’s Frozen in a Foot Locker in Chicago
Lightning Bolt- Assassins
The Minor Times- Casket City Lights
Protest the Hero- Bury the Hatchet
Lords- Cause All Of You Are Fucked
Envy- Pure Birth and Loneliness
Alternatively, you could just play any Metallica album up through …And Justice For All

Most of those aren’t personally familiar, but I’ll give them a spin. I need a playlist for Game 6 anyway.

Strange...
With the sentiments expressed on here, I would’ve figured that:
Bouncing Souls – True Believers
…would have been a lock.

Wow, my musical tastes aren’t nearly as metallic as y’all’s.
Anyway—and I don’t even really like the Foo Fighters—as I’ve mentioned before, “The Pretender” still gets me fired up for Caps hockey every time.
Nice. I actually thought of that and meant to add it to the list, but forgot by the time I got to the computer (which was probably four seconds later… ugh).
