The Story Thus Far...

I was just over reading Stan Fischler's blog and he was mentioning that Game 3 was an aberration or hallucination and that the Rangers will be taking Game 4 easily.  I don't know what series he's watching, but he pointed out that the weak link on the Caps D in the series is Erskine, and that Ovie may be getting upset about not scoring...

What Stan needs to do is look at the facts (and not just the nutrition label on the scotch bottle he's been having lunch from):

1) The Caps have allowed only 5 goals and 78 shots on goal in 3 games.  That's it.  Anyone think you can win a playoff series averaging 1.67 goals a game?  I doubt that it's happened too often.  I can think of once, in a 2-out-of-3 series between the Atlanta Flames and LA Kings, where the Kings won both games with scores of 2-1 and 1-0.  In a longer series... it's not going to happen.  Averaging 26 shots a game isn't conducive to bringing up the goals either.

2) The top Ranger goal-getter is Nik Antropov.  He had 28, most with Toronto.  The Caps have three 30-plus goal guys.  Where would Antropov rank in terms of Caps forwards?  Probably the second line...(although he'd look awful good as a winger with Ovie and Backstrom, and he'd be a 35 goal guy there)

3) He said that Avery needs to put the act away for a game... he should put it away period.  The guy is a decent 3rd line forward, but that's all he is.  For his Cap hit, he should be among the team leaders in scoring.. he never will be.

Hopefully someone will get that bottle away from Fischler before he drinks himself into thinking it will be less than 54 years between Cups for the Rangers again....
