we weren’t the only ones that noticed this, were we?
TSN announcers never mentioned it.

Wow, I have to admit I missed that and I thought people might be overreacting. But that’s bad, and if the Caps can get the league review it, they may have a pretty good case on their hands.

So why didn’t Brash kill him for that?

I don’t fault Brash in this situation. Don’t want to go shorthanded.

The NHL needs to look at this. A spear to the face should be five games, minimum.

I’ll take the under.

Yeah, what I think discipline should be and what it is in the NHL are very different things. I’d set over/under at one.

As weird as it may sound, that is okay with me. Avery did a lot more damage to the Rags tonight than he did to the Caps. I’ll take him self-destructing in game 4 rather than him sitting on the bench.

Brash's Injury...

Brash played only 2 1/2 minutes in the game and had only one shift very early in the third period. He’s likely not 100% and was in the line-up more as protection. He mixed it up with Orr for a bit only to show he was there, and then spent most of the time on the bench. If Brash were at or close to 100%, he would have been out there more…

Let's go Caps!

I don’t know if I want him to be suspended if he is going to play like this again and give the caps so much PP time.

by Ovechwin on Apr 21, 2009 12:39 AM EDT reply actions

it looked “unintentional”

As in, I’m sure he did it on purpose, but a ref could see it any way. It probably contributed to his short leash the rest of the game.

by snowburnt on Apr 21, 2009 7:52 AM EDT reply actions

but man, every time I see it it looks more and more dirty and intentional

by snowburnt on Apr 21, 2009 7:54 AM EDT up reply actions

you can see him look up and identify his target just before he uses the stick. so, so, SO clearly intentional from my vantage point.

by Natty Bumppo on Apr 21, 2009 12:16 PM EDT up reply actions

Absolutely intentional. Avery does all of his dirtiest work trying to make it look like he’s not doing it on purpose. He’ll get his.
