Link?
Working the late shift at work night, luckily with internet access, anyone got a streaming link for the game? And since I’m working the same shift Wednesday night and dont want to have to ask again, will the same link work for Game 4 or do they change around? Thanks in advance.
For the future, is there a way we can create this as a fanshot for each game? I think that the whole asking for a link to watch kind of bogs down the early chat, and half the time people coming late will just ask for one rather than reading the post.
I'm so sick and tired of the refs explaining the calls like this is the NFL.
I don’t use it, but if someone knows of a consistent, reliable link, I’ll throw it in the Game Thread posts.

You should be happy, Brashear is a waste of a uniform
never let the truth get in the way of a good story
Except that he provides a spot and cycles the puck far better than everyone else’s enforcers, and usually he gets 8-10 minutes, while the other team plays their enforcers 3-5. That means someone else has to take extra minutes, and get tired.

We don’t get Versus on campus and we’ve always gotten games that have been on both on CSN before. CSN has been dark since at least 6:25, that’s what’s been weird for me.

When Laich gets pushed around the crease he needs to find himself falling into the goalie every single time
1 time, 100 times, there’s an art to absorbing a hit like there is an art to clearing the crease. We’re not talking dirty pool or falling On anyone. They aren’t arranging flowers out there.
As much as Laich gets pushed around the crease (god love him)I’ve not seen him hit touch the goalie once all year much less 10 times. THAT takes some serious effort. :)
Feds looked creaky again, like he could barely move his stick to do anything with AO’s pass. (This is over-analysis.)
Not really – Kozlov and Feds noticeably play the game at a slower pace than AO, Semin and Nick.

What you’ve gotta like about Varly tonight is that he’s really competing. He’s not just making saves, he’s fighting through second chances, bodies, all of it. Mature that way.
He’s leading by example.

This is the Rangers team we all knew from the regular season. . . useless power play. Undisciplined. No offense.
We’ll see. This is why losing two games in a row is so tough. Even if the Rags play like “themselves,” they’re bound to win a 40% of the games. Like a coin flip, the result of one game isn’t dependent on the game that came before it.
Encouraging thought
Varly has looked much better, more confident and more in control tonight than he did in Game Two. He’s playing like he’s settling in. (Which is nothing short of amazing.)

Ok, technically, until the Caps have won 16, every game is “must-win.” But in reality, on a micro-level, the next game is the most important. It regains home-ice, it nullifies the two games we lost back here, and it gets into the Rangers’ heads. It also proves that Varly’s performance the last two games isn’t a fluke.

He was great, but he got very, very lucky on the Callahan no-goal. Sometimes, it’s better to be lucky than good.
Course I’ve heard of that. I am sitting here in an Adam Deadmarsh Avalanche jersey for good luck, after all. :)
I used to room with our goalie in hockey. They are STRANGE.
We used to have 3 keepers. One was a drama queen, the second was a stoner and the third was wasted most of the time.
“You’re supposed to puke, Tony. You’re a goalie…”
LOL I imagine the stoner didn’t do too good. Drama queens usually do pretty well. Just look at Roy and Brodeur. :)
by JulesWagner on Apr 20, 2009 10:01 PM EDT up reply actions
The drama queen was, technically, the best goalie, but one day, he flipped after the coaches pulled him, and he just up and quit. It’s a shame, too, because it killed our season.
I bet. It takes a LOT of stamina, both mental and physical. I figure that’s why goalies have such a hard time in Montreal. So much frickin’ pressure.

Great game by Pothier. His best two way game since he was a Sen in my opinion.
As any Caps fan knows when #28 comes to play Caps are extremely hard to beat.
Not trying to rain on the parade, but this series is still the Rangers’ to lose. They have home-ice advantage. All they need to do is win 2/4.
The Caps are better off than they were before tonight, but let’s not get ahead of ourselves.
Point of reference – Regular season record of 3-0-1 against the Rangers. I have confidence we can go 3-1 in the next four.

What is wrong with Mike Green?
First of all, because I’m elated at the victory, major props to the legend NICKLAS BACKSTROM for playing the game of his life. The way he shrugged off Callahan before the assist on the second goal, I will never forget that play. AWESOME.
But Greenie, Greenie, Greenie: What is wrong with #52? He could’ve been our worst defenseman tonight. Just an awful game. If we can get him going, we could even be more dangerous.
We were speculating earlier that his shoulder is still giving him issues. Remember that game where he got hit and stayed down for a while? Then he got up and claimed that he had the wind knocked out of him? Yeah, that was complete and total BS. He hasn’t been shooting the same since then.
My guess is that he’s already planning on off-season surgery on his shoulder, which likely hasn’t been totally correct since he took that hit from Pronger early this season.
It’s gotta be something…he is looking REALLY tentative in his own zone and when he is aggressively forechecked, he more often than not just concedes the puck. He made some really dicey plays in this game, and when’s he’s not contributing offensively, he almost becomes a liability in the defensive end.

Avery's sly punch to Varly
Gotta love the way the young Russian calmly shook off the cheap shot. Loved the little quick helmet readjustment while staring straight ahead, oblivious to #16.
Had that been Theo received the punch, I guarantee it’d have resulted in a matching minor.
The only reason I would want the Caps to lose this series...
It would be to see Chara hammer Avery into the boards, making him part of the boards…
Brashear played 2:35
essentially, two shifts that I counted.
Question: Obviously the mojo is back with this line-up and maybe BB will keep it the same to keep it going. HOWEVER, is Brashear’s 2 minutes worth scratching Circles? Most would probably say yes but I wonder… what’s the point of dressing Brashear for two shifts?
He might have been real injured…. But I thought he played well in the first period. We’ll see tomorrow im sure.
He had six shifts total. Obviously not much.
Japers' Rink: Hockey blogging from the most powerful city in the world

by red army line on Apr 20, 2009 11:31 PM EDT up reply actions
That’s not really a very good retort considering May had 900 career games and was brought in to play eight minutes a night and Motzko and Aucoin are career AHLers – the situations aren’t even remotely the same.
Point was, they weren’t brought in to play a huge in-game role. Experience, May had that, but he wasn’t expected to produce a tremendous amount like Olli Jokinen. At the very least Aucoin brings energy and effort despite his size. Motzko was so long ago I can’t even remember what he did well anymore.
