Brashear to Dress for Game 3?
From what purports to be Donald Brashear's Twitter account, "im getting ready for my first playoff game against the Rangers" It should be noted that Brash "has been available for both playoff games, but ... hasn't fit the team's game plan against New York." So far, that is... (H/t Caps Message Board)

Regardless of whether it is or isn’t, Boudreau has said Brash has been available, then today said, “I might change a guy here or there,” so it certainly seems a realistic possibility, no?

But what’s the upside? Brash is a board player, doesn’t go to the net, not that matters with the line he’ll be on, give me Clark before Brash
never let the truth get in the way of a good story
I agree that Clark > Brash, but Clark isn’t ready (Bruce said he’s still 7-10 days away).

Bruce also said Theodore was his #1 goalie after Game 1.

And he still is. Bruce is just going with his #2. :)

It might be, but the 4th line has done a pretty good job so far, I’d say. And I’d think you’d want a little more quickness against these guys than a big slow guy like Brash.
Of course, if he can somehow beat the living shit out of #16 blue during the course of the game, I’ll recind the previous remark.

I actually thought the 4th line was surprisingly bad in Game 1. Much better in Game 2. Not sure that Brash makes them better for Game 3, where they can be line-matched easier.

Everyone keeps wishing for an avery fight…the dude’s a pussy, he’s the type that would sucker punch you in the sack and then run to hide under his mom’s skirt. He’s not going to through down his gloves.
He’ll fight – he’s done it plenty throughout his career. But he certainly won’t go up a weight class to do it.

At least now Torts can justify giving Colton Orr more than three minutes of ice time …
I have a blog too! www.scottyhockey.com
Let's Go Rangers!
At first blush, I was annoyed with this choice, but honestly, Brash isn’t a huge marginal loss over Bradley, if that’s who Bruce scratches. With the emergence of Semin on the PK, and Gordon’s return, Brads sees less ice time anyhow. Maybe Brash brings some energy and toughness.
Or maybe he’s just out there to take out Lundqvist. (Please, oh please let it be that.)
I doubt he’d be scratching Brads here. If history is any indication, it’ll be one of Gordo or Stecks.

I know you’re half-kidding, but I don’t see him scratching anyone on the top three lines given how much trouble they’ve had scoring.

Brashear playing or not, meaningless
1) Brashear or no Brashear, he’s not going to change the complexion of the game to any great degree. Its about playing hard for 60 minutes. Willing to give the extra effort to score the dirty goals, etc. Something this team has not been willing to do consistently most of the regular season.
I find sometimes it's easy to be myself
sometimes I find it's better to be somebody else
Brash in, Steks out would be my thought. Brash brings energy that the team is lacking. I care more about that than skill right now. Gotta get some mo going and 4th line puck posession due to physicality always seems to pump up a bench.
I’m not anticipating a fight however. Torts would be smart to have Orr avoid one. Last thing he wants to do is awake any sleeping dogs. Rags should just keep playing a good defensive game.
Brash was actually a pretty good offensive weapon in this playoffs last year, this should be a big boost.
Swing by The Flyer Frequent. You have nothing better to do.
I am fine with this move – I imagine BB will want him out there in case things get nasty in a hostile building and he does bring some leadership. I would sit Bradley, simply because he has the fewest special teams obligations and doesn’t do faceoffs. I’d also be ok scratching Kozlov.
Kozlov has one point this postseason – his first career playoff goal. It was a nice one, but I think there are other wingers on this team that can score that goal. And that might contribute elsewhere.
But don’t get me wrong, Bradley would be my #1 choice, and I admit I am being hard on Kozlov due (a) to his career suckitude in the playoffs and (b) not converting some golden opportunities last game.

Yes, this is him. Welcome to Twitter, @donbrashearcom. Happy to have you, and to hear you’re playing tonight. And thanks, MSG wireless.
Legit.
As I said in the Open Thread, sometimes I know more than I can come right out and say… :)
