Expect Brian Pothier to be in the lineup Saturday against the New York Rangers. Pothier said Bruce Boudreau has told him he will play, and Boudreau confirmed that.
Jeff Schultz did not practice and is likely out tomorrow. Boudreau did not divulge the nature of his injury.

With the injury enter Pothier, people shouldn’t have unrealistic expectations for him. He’s understandably shown his share of rust. Hopefully that shites mostly busted off by now.
Fall/injury or not, statistically, Theo more likely than not should have bailed him out there. If Schultz played injured Saturday and had one more visible error at home this second game in a row…
I hope he’s back to optimal soon.
That’s my feeling, that Theo should have had that fourth goal. Sometimes your goalie just has to bail you out, just like the defense bails the goalie out by scooping up rebounds and loose change in the crease when sometimes he can’t find it.
I think Pothier will do okay, honestly. He’s been pretty solid in the last of the regular season.

I agree. Pothier will do ok and against the Rangers that is pretty much all you need to be is ok. Schulz always seems to be one step behind the play. Let’s hope that Pothier plays the man and not the puck!!
On a more positive note, if that was Theo’s bad game, I’ll take it. Better to get it of the way early. Caps in 6!

I think you must be confused. Schultz wears 55, not 4 :-)
I should have known the minute I saw the comment that you’d be in defending your guy DMG.
I can’t beleive I’m doing this but I’m going to to defend a Cap D-man not named Green, but I think in the last 6-7 games The Lumberjack has played well, especially for a final pairing guy. Stupid taking that penalty the other night, but his D has been solid. Comparing Schultz to Caps 6/7 guy is about right though. That is a discussion he belongs in.
Actually I agree with you – Erskine has looked more and more solid as the season’s gone on, including on Wednesday night. I still think Schultz is a 4-5 on a good team, but I am liking what I’m seeing out of Erskine, but I could resist the chance to tease the guy a little.
He’s reminding of the Erskine we saw when he first came to the Caps. Good rugged play – clearing guys out, making smart plays with the puck, and most importantly I think putting himself in conservative position defensively. Because as you intimated John ain’t going to be winning any fastest skater contests.
I’d also mention that MO finally seems to be out of his funk as well. Arbitration or whatever else it was that had him all messed up much of the season seems to have been resolved in his mind based on his play. In my opinion, Mo is like a ref. The less I hear his name during a game broadcast the better he did his job.
