Who Will Be the Caps Leading Scorer in the Playoffs?

Its finally here.  Game Day.  Who would have thought April 15th would be a GOOD day.

Will Ovechkin continue his goal scoring dominance?

Will Semin play another MVP caliber series as he did against the Flyers last year?

Will the underappreciated (at least league wise) Backstrom take the next step to becoming an elite center?

Will Green add more votes for the Norris with post season play?

Excited to see what the Caps have in store for us.  Poll is up.  Check it.

Insert Mike Huckabee joke here.

I think Semin is going to be a monster, and voted for him, but very surised to see him out in front. Realistically, if it’s anyone other than Ovie, Semin, or Nicky, that’s not good.

I voted for Semin too. My logic:

1. Semin, when he’s one, is almost as deadly as Ovechkin
2. I expect Semin to be on based on last year’s playoffs
3. Ovechkin will draw the toughest matchups when it comes to defensive pairings and checking lines

But Ovechkin is Red Jesus. Semin is Red James. Or John. But not Red Peter – that sounds like something that would need to be checked out.

Haha, nice one.

I just had a thought as to why it might be Backie: If he’s centering Semin’s line, and the top PP line, then he’s with Semin for his ES production and Ovie for his PP production. That’s a lot of assists to grab, and he’ll add some goals, too.

He’s Red John the Baptist, because he was drafted before Ovechkin.

Nice. I’ll let you Xtians hash out the specifics. :)

I think if it’s not Ovechkin, something has gone wrong. Hard to envision someone outscoring him over a long period of time (say, two full rounds or more) with the team winning, though I suppose Nick or Sasha could.

But if it’s Laich, we’re boned.

Keep in mind that most teams will devote considerable resources on defense to bottling up Ovechkin, like the Flyers did last year. That would be why Laich/Backstrom/Semin was hte most effective line later, yes?

And Ovechkin still led the team in scoring.

The big dog will eat from the carcasses of the vanquished. It’s Ovechkin.

And I’ll go with Red JtB for Semin.

lets just hope Semin doesn’t get beheaded

I want to vote for Kozlov!

LOL.

No. No. No. And ahhhhh no.

Maybe next year (year 9 of the rebuild).

Better question: Will the Caps’ #8 play more like Dmitri Kristich than an MVP contender?
