- July 2, 2007 - Capitals sign free agent Michael Nylander.
- July 14, 2006 - Capitals sign free agent Alexandre Giroux.
- July 14, 2006 - Capitals sign free agent Chad Wiseman.
- June 24, 2006 - Capitals trade 2006 fifth round pick (#137, used to select Tomas Zaborsky) to Rangers for 2007 fourth round pick (#108, used to select Brett Bruneteau).
- January 23, 2004 - Capitals trade Jaromir Jagr to Rangers for Anson Carter.
- January 15, 2003 - Capitals claim Josh Green off waivers from the Rangers.
- February 1, 2002 - Capitals claim Trent Whitfield off waivers from the Rangers.
- January 16, 2002 - Rangers claim Trent Whitfield off waivers from the Capitals.
- September 4, 1992 - Rangers sign free agent Craig Duncanson.
- August 27, 1987 - Capitals trade 1988 fifth round pick (#99, used to select Martin Bergeron) to Rangers for Peter Sundstrom.
- January 1, 1987 - Capitals trade Bob Carpenter and 1989 second round pick (#40, used to select Jason Prosofsky) to Rangers for Mike Ridley, Kelly Miller and Bob Crawford. [Ed. note: money]
- October 7, 1982 - Capitals claim Vaclav Nedomansky off waivers from the Rangers.
- January 15, 1979 - Capitals claim Greg Polis off waivers from the Rangers.
- October 4, 1977 - Rangers sign free agent Don Awrey.
- June 17, 1975 - Capitals claim Hartland Monahan in intra-league draft from the Rangers.
- October 29, 1974 - Capitals claim Rod Seiling off waivers from the Rangers.
- July 29, 1974 - Capitals traded cash to Rangers for Andre Peloffy.
- June 12, 1974 - Capitals selected Jack Egers in expansion draft from the Rangers.

In fact, getting Anson Carter in hindsight was fleecing.
I'm so sick and tired of the refs explaining the calls like this is the NFL.
… whom the Caps then flipped for Jared Aulin, who famously had a go with Paris Hilton, with whom Jose Theodore was also linked and who will, of course, face the Rangers starting Wednesday, thus completing the circle.
