Monday Caps Clips
Your savory breakfast links:
- Simeon Varlamov's weekend back in the AHL: 1-1-0, 1.50 goals against average, .961 save percentage. Nice.
- For those of us hungering for another Cap forward who will go to the net, Oskar Osala is that guy. [WaPo]
- Must-read on Braden Holtby. [Sportsnet.ca]
- A bit more on Zach Miskovic, whom the Caps signed last week. [Watertown Daily Times]
- Not breaking news: Alex Ovechkin is worth every penny you pay to see him. [NHL Home Ice (XM)]
- AO mini-helmet. Want. [Alex Ovetjkin]
- If the Caps let all their Unrestricted Free Agents walk this summer, they're not losing much apparently. [USA Today]
- We've said it before and we'll say it again - it's never too early for a mock draft, and NHL.com has three up in which the Caps take a WHL D (that's worked out well recently), a pivot from the Q and a Swedish blueliner whose old man played 10 seasons with the Rangers with their first picks [NHL.com]
- The Toronto Sun's Mike Zeisberger gives the Norris to Zdeno Chara. [Toronto Sun]
- "The best song ever," per Steinz. Definitely better than "Stairway." [MySpace/Pummeler, potentially NSFW]

RE: Holtby – - It’s so comforting to have all these fledgling goalies in the pipeline. Makes me sleep more soundly every night.
i’d want it 1000x more if McD’s splurged for the tinted visor.

Regarding the draft: I can think of a Swedish blueliner I’d like to see up next year after he dropped an absolutely almighty smack on Saturday. I don’t think Kronwall got enough of a shake, and we do seem to be acquiring a definite Swedish flavor to go with the Russian, yes?

Can we officially stick a fork in the (tenuous at best) argument that Varly’s conditioning is a problem?

That probably comes out of the injury issues he’s had this year, so I have a feeling that will linger for a while. I’ll admit I’m still holding my breath.

How about we wait until he plays two consecutive months without getting hurt before we cast aside a legitimate concern?
