Guess we can probably forget about “Ersky the winger.”

=(. Erskine needs more line up time. But if you wanna rest him, that’s cool.
I'm so sick and tired of the refs explaining the calls like this is the NFL.

So does that mean Semin’s out tonight? Or is this the Hershey Express, and it’s anyone’s guess until tonight?
It doesn’t mean anything. My guess is they needed a 4th line winger (not Erskine) and then another F in case Semin can’t go. Gametime decision, no doubt.

Well, it was rhetorical, after all. But Katie says Ovechkin skated in warmups for a little while. Makes me worry that he’s the one who might be sick. Oy.
would be fun to beat Tampa without him, though. maybe a maintenance day. if so, i’m more than OK with it
no way 8 takes a seat tonight
You can take it to the bank that OV will squash even the perception of ducking the game because of last week’s hijinks.

I wouldn’t read too much into it. Ovechkin misses all of or portions of practice all the time because he plays big minutes and plays hard minutes.
And if he misses tonight, he’d risk being accused of ducking any response to his shenanigans, so the likelihood of him being scratched is approaching nil.

Apparently Schultz, Semin and Brash look to be out.

Why does it seem like this is the first time I’ve heard that Semin was hurt, as well as (or maybe instead of) sick? Did I sleep through the updates last week? Or is that a side effect of the “flu” that I missed. [snark intended; it’s to keep my sanity]
No, it’s the first I’ve heard of it, too.
As I mentioned in the other thread, he got stood up pretty good by Kubina towards the end of that Leafs game, and I wouldn’t have been surprised if that had something of a lasting effect, but I wouldn’t have thought “limp.”

One of them is likely going to be in Semin’s spot. The other in case someone else is sick. The team may be moving Erskine into the enforcer role, in which case it makes more sense for him to dress as a forward, as you don’t want to be stuck with only 5 defensemen.
No, one in Semin’s spot, one on the 4th line LW, Erskine to D, Schultz to press box (see above).

You think that Osala will get a shot at the 2nd line? My guess is that Flash will be moved up, Laich over, and Aucoin and Osala will play on the 3rd and 4th line.
I think Fleishmann moves up to RW on line two, Osala goes to LW on line three and Aucoin and Steckel are the center and left wing on line three (though I don’t know which would be which).
Given Aucoin’s sub-40% faceoff efficiency, I’d say he’s the winger.
I could also see a return to “normalcy,” with 8-19-25, F Street, and then a jumble of the leftovers on the bottom two lines.

I refuse to accept that. My little heart will be broken if Fehr doesn’t skate with Ovechkin tonight.

agreed there. It’s time to see if this kid can develop some chemistry with 8-19.

I’d like to see Osala get 9-12 minutes anywhere.

Then go watch him in Hershey. :)

If Schultz is the scratch, what do our D pairings look like? I’m guessing:
Green – Mo
Po-Po
Juiskine

Pothier and Jurcina? Don’t they both shoot right? I know that BB likes a rightie and a leftie on each pairing.

But haven’t Erskine and Poti been paired together recently or did I imagine that? I remember thinking that Poti and Erskine worked well together.
Other than their handedness, I like the pairings of Poti/Erskine & Pothier/Juice because of complimentary styles.
They have been, but it didn’t seem like the ideal pairing to me. I thought I saw it a couple of games when something happened to a D-man or a call-up got inserted or something else was going on.
Well, what did we use for D in the last half of the playoffs? I think that’s a better pointed as to which way we’ll go. I see your point about the styles, but handedness is also a factor. That said, Both Po’s are puck-movers as opposed to shut-down guys, so you could be right.
Mind you the “tell me I’m wrong” was intended to sound hopeful. I really dislike the Juiskine pairing and I hope I don’t see it tonight.

One advantage of keeping Erskine and Jurcina together, though, would be to manage their ice time more easily.
I wouldn’t look at last year’s playoffs, though, because there was no Pothier then.
Aren’t Poti and Pothier similar type players? In theory, anyways. Wouldn’t you want each of them paired with a more stay-at-home type?
In theory, yes, but the only way you get both is Pothier-Erskine and Poti-Jurcina, and that makes my brain bleed.
Guess we’ll find out.

Pair up 52 with 2 or 3 and you’d have some Green Pot…. and just a few minutes before 4:20 at that.
