Wednesday Caps Clips
Let's hit the links:
- WaPo's game file and blog, WaTi's gamer and blog.
- I'm not sure how wearing a dude's t-shirt with the word "respect" written on it signifies that a feud is still brewing, but I wasn't on the scene. [Capitals Insider]
- Alex Ovechkin is "the greatest talent the league has ever seen," and that's not some Caps' fanboy saying it, it's one of hockey's best-respected journos, Kevin Paul Dupont. [New England Hockey Journal]
- I'll take the "Boudreau Effect" over the "Keenan Effect" (i.e. recycling) any day. [The Hockey News]
- Power rankings for the week have the Caps holding at fifth at The Sporting News, TSN.ca and FOX Sports.com, fourth at CBSSports.com and ninth at Yahoo! Sports, and down four to ninth at The Hockey News, down one to fifth at SI.com, down two to fifth at ESPN.com, and up one to fourth at Sportsnet.ca.
- Scott Burnside is on the "Mike Green for Norris" bandwagon. [ESPN]
- Even with ticket prices going up, the Caps still make for a relatively cheap date. [From the Rink]
- Apparently Michal Neuvirth's agent is none other than former first overall pick Patrik Stefan, meaning that negotiating Neuvy's next deal should be about as easy as scoring on an empty net. I don't even know what that's supposed to mean. [ESPN]
- If I was still in college, I'd probably think this custom Caps' beer pong table as pretty cool. But I'm out of college, so I think it's very cool. [Caps message board]
- A gratuitous shot of one of AO's exes. [Alex Ovetjkin]
- A summit between Caps and Pens fans to try to understand each other. Nobel-worthy stuff. [VftCS]
- Furries + hockey. You've been warned. [CK]
- Alexandre Giroux is the first player to score 50 goals for the Bears in a season in more than two decades. Granted, most guys don't get a chance to score 50 goals at the AHL level, but still. [Lebanon Daily News]
- Speaking of Hershey, they're diggin' Staffan Kronwall down there. [Lebanon Daily News]
- More brackets? Yeah, but these are hockey brackets, so they're actually fun. Go enter as a "thank you" to WCHB for this FanPost. [WCHB]
- Career suicide is funny. [TBL]

Unless they bring that table out on 7th street, I’m going to need to use it for Saturday’s DC United tailgate.

Where’s the best place to sit for a DC United game? I went one game last year and was behind the net (sorry no knowledge with soccer terms)…about 20 rows up and while fun sitting next to the guys with the drums, I gotta think there’s a better place to watch the game.
I’d say sit on the quiet side first (204-210, 304-310) to check it out. You’re behind the team benches and still is a good view (you can get good game/crowd pics). The supporters’/bouncy side is an acquired taste, but very addictive.

Grassyass…a good friend of mine is trying to get me into “real” football. Surprisingly (or not) it hasn’t been easy for me. Though playing FIFA has helped somewhat…I’m now a closet Juventos fan.
This is a harmless/fun high level look at it, but mainly covers Europe.
You’ll need SOME sport to follow in 6 weeks…

I already used that as a headline for a story I wrote about the Mascot Hockey game.
At Japers’ Rink you get statistical analysis and spirited debate. At CK you get furries. What a world we live in.
