Let’s try something new tonight – no “+1”
Instead, “rec” a comment if you dig it.

When a comment gets 2 recs (I can set how many – currently it’s 2), it gets highlighted. Basically, it’s so you can skim the crap and see the good stuff easily.

Society crumbles.
But I figure I’ll just raise the “rec’s to highlight” limit to account for the jokers.

Says the Pens fan who doesn’t care if the Caps lose 7-6 or 1-0. :)

Well, that’s if they’re playing my boys…
When it comes down to it—I’d love to see the Caps take the 2-seed for two reasons: 1. It increases the chance of a DC/Pitt series, and 2. It would knock the Devils down a rung, and we all love that.
But no, seriously, this one’s a 5-3 or 6-4 Caps win.
I really think that the way to stop a Pens fan and a Caps fan from fighting is to stick a Flyers fan in the room with them.

Really? I’d suggest putting them at the downstairs bar in La Tasca with two pitchers of sangria. There will be no fighting—only drinking.
I wouldn’t take him for granted though. He’s been in a bad slump, but these unexpected starts where people are trashing him is exactly the kind of spot where he could rise up.

Kevin Hatcher? Chris Simon?
You could honestly blame the 90’s AND the early ’00’s on Jagr if you wanted to.
speaking of Jagr...
In Pens circles these days, it’s all the rage to fire back at the Crosby = whiner stereotype with Ovie = Lazy Backchecker. I had to mention to someone today that no matter what, Ovie still backchecks more than Jagr ever did. Hell, I remember a game at MCI when the entire crowd cheered Jagr for winding up in his own corner helping out Ken Klee.
That man didn’t know what the ice looked like from the top of the circles down in his own zone.
C’mon. Pens fans are smarter than to base their opinion of a guy on one play.

Hmmm…they should have tried to lease Gary Thorne from MASN…
Seriously, I kinda wish the radio and TV were synced (like the good ’ol days) so I could watch comcast and listen to Kolbe.
For those confused with HD vs. non-HD…just because the game is on the “CSN-HD” channel, that doesn’t mean it is being shot in HD. Basically, what seems to happen pretty often, especially road games, is that you’ll get standard def quality in a wide-screen aspect on the HD channel…but that doesn’t make it true HD.

@ DMG
I gotta ask you if you remember Fehr taking that slash PIM against PHI when he knocked Pupshall’s stick out of his hand and you commented that it was a clear cut PIM when you knock a guy’s stick out of his hand. This is the third time since then I’ve seen a Cap have the stick knocked out of his hand with no call (Chara on Semin was one, I forget the second, and then Poti right there). I’m pretty sure it’s not a per se PIM to knock a guy’s stick out of his hand but I just want to know if you still hold to that position and think the refs have blown all these calls.
by Fehr and Balanced on Mar 10, 2009 8:11 PM EDT reply actions
Yes, I think the refs are blowing the calls, including at least two on Sunday.
by David M. Getz on Mar 10, 2009 8:26 PM EDT up reply actions
Ok, I though it was only a per se violation if the stick breaks or if it is way away from the play (Chara on Semin). I thought if you stick check a guy and they drop a stick it’s not a PIM, which would absolve Fehr and the slash on Poti on the first shift. I forget which ones happened on Sunday I can only remember making a mental note of another stick getting knocked free sans PIM.

Personally, I’m more than happy to see PHI downgrade. Pupshall for Carcillo is a backwards move. They don’t even have Mclaren now because of the physical so they still have the same craptastic D, inconsistent Gs, and they have less scoring depth than they started with. Well done boys. It’s moves like that make me happy GMGM did nothing.

How does Bruce talk about going to the net and then plays these power play units with no one in front?

i’m late as usual. just wanted to add that this whole rec’ing thing works wonders when trying to scan 800 new posts at once. i’ve always loved the rec; love it even more now that it’s in full effect.
(although i didn’t need anyone to tell me to stop at the kelly pickler photo..)

I almost wish they’d loosen up on the rules again because online VS games take forever to play since everyone checks everyone not even close to the puck all game. I’m at the point where I just try to go 4on4 right away.
It is absurd.. they went from one extreme to the other.

Is that criteria? I thought it was only when you tie the actual hockey game and then lose in the shootout.

Great play by Semin to take the hit on the boards. Great pass by Koz. Great finish by Feds.
HUGE win.
Japers' Rink: Hockey blogging from the most powerful city in the world
Wow. I’m glad I listened to the little voice after I logged out that told me to tough the nasties out, curl up on the couch with tea and a blanket, and see this one through.
One slump, busted. Ladies and gentlemen, THAT looked like playoff hockey.
Now, if we can just get guys consistently in front of the net and convert some of those spectacular chances.

Ok, I’ll admit I was staying away due to superstition there. Great to see the Caps win a game by working hard for almost the entire tilt. Hard hat to Semin tonight. Good guys deserved to win and they got one.
Eat that, anyone with any kind of tangential relationship to Tennesee! Like hypothetically a spouse from there.

My wife is from Nashville
Her father and sister we’re at the game texting us with trash talk.
Fuck ’em.
Great call by Bruce to have Feds on the ice then as a D-man. Feds deserves the winner, too. Great plays by Semin and Kozzy too.
Really, really liked this effort tonite.
I like it a lot more right now than I did a few minutes ago

finally, I’m hapy for this win…….how did Ellis stone us that many times? Did we have any traffic in front? Were the shots mostly weak or great goaltending on his part?
Ellis was pretty good and very lucky. I’ll take that from my goalie over very good and only a little lucky any time

BTW Theo60, not trying to tell you what to do, but there are many pictures out there of JT60 as a Cap you could use. Including some of him giving a jesus christ pose with angel wings…
And guy porn isn’t?

Lord knows nothing else is. :P
But no, shirtless hockey players, especially ones like Theodore with nice inkwork … that’s easy on the eyes.
And yes, seeing Semin stripped on the ice before going off after the bongos incident made my night ;)
"It is better to die on your feet than to live on your knees." - Delores Ibarruri
There is some philly forum that has a thread with a bunch of shirtless pics. I spent forever in there.
my uncle looks like Semin if he smoked way too much and was 40.
He is german and pretty much a BAMF
Philly? Ew. That’s gutter-crawlin’ right there.

Understood. Nothing wrong with a little beefcake for the ladies, especially when it works on that many levels.

He had a couple of pretty good shifts, but not enough TOI in my opinion. Especially for a March game. I can understand playing the vets in the playoffs, but this is his time to get some seasoning.

I don’t know, I love that Fehr/Steckel/Laich line.
by David M. Getz on Mar 10, 2009 10:52 PM EDT up reply actions
Things I’d like to see:
Ovechkin – Backstrom – Fehr
Semin – Fedorov – Kozlov
Fleischmann – Nylander – Laich
Bradley – Steckel – Gordon
by Gould Old Days on Mar 10, 2009 10:53 PM EDT up reply actions
I’m also happy with:
Fleischmann – Steckel – Laich
Bradley – B. Gordon – A. Gordon
by Gould Old Days on Mar 10, 2009 10:55 PM EDT up reply actions
Ooh, A. Gordon. I like it. I’d also accept Beagle.
Apart from the Nyls thing, I’d like to see your lines too.
Yeah, I loved what I saw from Beagle. He has only played a few games this year though.
by Gould Old Days on Mar 10, 2009 10:57 PM EDT up reply actions
No love for Keith Aucoin, huh? Just sayin, if you’re looking for a center with some experience…
by docciavelli on Mar 10, 2009 11:00 PM EDT up reply actions
I like Aucoin, but I’d rather have a wing than a center.
by Gould Old Days on Mar 10, 2009 11:03 PM EDT up reply actions
Enh, I wasn’t impressed with Aucoin when he was up here. Beagle had a lot more hustle. I think that skill we’ve got, and how. What we need is energy and hustle, and a little bit of grit, and Beagle provides that. It’s another reason I’m looking forward to seeing Delly in the system.
