Guerin NOT coming to Washington
Per Tarik's sources, Bill Guerin isn't going to be a Cap any time soon. Also, Jay Beagle has been recalled from Hershey.

2)Bill Guerin (RW, New York Islanders, 4.5 Million, UFA at end of season): Has our favorite hated meme: a no movement clause. But would be a right wing who could play on any line. At 4.5Mil, too much for us. Shame. Too much.
That’s what I said at the time. I am 99% sure that the factor keeping something like that from happening is Nylander’s salary. I’m also 99% sure we can get more for Nylander than Bill Guerin. Not much more, but perhaps a little.
Can't we get Chris Bourque a red jersey now? Thanks.
Well the Isles have a TON of open cap room. Not sure they want Nylander though.
This situation is giving me a headache though.

I’m not sure we can get anything for Nylander. The Caps are “underwater” with Nylander — his contract is more expensive than he is worth. He’s like a house with a mortgage that’s worth more than the house. I’m not saying he can’t play anymore or that he’s got no value in the abstract, but I am saying that given his contract, he’s a net loss for any team.
I wouldn’t mind seeing the Caps send Nylander and someone else (a pick or a prospect) to another team for a player who could contribute and who is a UFA after this season. Guerin would fit that bill. And the Caps would take a net liability off their books.

Right, the math never made sense. The fit, however, wasn’t bad.
