I actually like those forward lines pretty well. Not sure I love Schultz/Jurcina, but I guess you can’t always love your 3rd D pairing.
Specifically, I like the Laich-Backs-Semin line. Putting Semin with 2 guys who can do productive things in the offensive zone without the puck is probably a good idea, given him MJ-like puck-hogging tendencies.
Hola from Herndon.
Don’t forget to make your SPG picks. Got about 17 minutes remaining.

Nice – it’s a Lindsay Soto game!

Verus/Golf HD
Is the Verus/Golf HD channel showing golf in anyone else’s house, or is it just Arlington?
I’m not in Arlington, but I know that Comcast here in MoCo used to have Versus/Golf HD until a few weeks ago and now has Versus HD on its own elsewhere.

He’s a little too enthusiastic when the other team scores, IMHO.

Here’s his call of the Shawn Thornton/Alex Henry fight.
I have as many wins in a Capitals uniform as Michael Belhumeur does.
He’s just as good on VS as he is in the regular Comcast. And I’m sure he doesnt’ miss Locker too much. :)

Feds whiffed on a beautiful pass from Ovie, then Green shanked it from Ovie’s prime one-time spot. Ugh.

If you could have Carter, Vanek or Parise, who would you take?
Japers' Rink: Hockey blogging from the most powerful city in the world
A banger? Dude has fewer hits per game than Sidney Crosby.
But he is willing to go in front of the net and in the corners and he does block a lot of shots.
Yeah, don’t confuse Carter with Richards.

Tough period for Fehr – a post and two penalties he should’ve drawn that went uncalled.
Japers' Rink: Hockey blogging from the most powerful city in the world
Uh, John Erskine should NEVER pass the puck to himself off the boards on the way into the offensive zone. EVER.
Nor should he pinch, as he did to try to take the Brash feed from below the goal line (ugh).

Caps fans are fickle, obviously. I’m going to give them the benefit of the doubt and say that they mean he isn’t “gifted” in the way, say, Ovechkin is gifted. Solid, but not extraordinary.
Which is what I meant immediately above when I said “Eh, I still appreciate what he can do. But no one would ever call him a gifted hockey player.”

Per Corey:

Japers' Rink: Hockey blogging from the most powerful city in the world
Per Tarik
Viktor Kozlov did not return for the start of the second period. I have inquired about his status and will provide an update when I hear something,
Also, I caught up with GM George McPhee between periods and he said that Brent Johnson could need surgery on his hip. At this point, it’s up to Johnson whether he will continue to play through the injury.
