Nice call. We’re lucky to be get a chance to see so many All-Star starters tonight. AO can only hope to some day be deemed worthy.

Not so much since December, though, of course.
Oh, and nice new adjective to add to the lexicon.

Perhaps they should look into trading Koivu, A. Kostitsyn, and a draft pick/prospect for the Wild’s Niklas Backstrom. On second thought, that might not be enough, so maybe add Markov.
Kovalev missing people, I wouldn’t say I miss him tonight…

As long as this game doesn’t take so long and has a shootout that runs through Lost, I’ll watch it. That pissed me off last time. I blame the Rangers.
How the HELL does Shaone Morrisonn keep getting a sweater?
Lost doesn’t trump the Caps. My woman, however, does. And she insists on watching it.

sounds like you’ve reached that critical point in your marriage where it’s time to spring for that second flatscreen you’ve always wanted! : )
Who else thought the game should have started 20 minutes ago?

JP do you do things from a seat in the arena, or at home? I always thought you were an STH.
How the HELL does Shaone Morrisonn keep getting a sweater?
I split season tix with three buddies, and my dad splits tix with two or three guys, so I end up in the building for half of the games or so. It used to be more, but with baby, I’ve cut back a little.
I’m in my basement tonight. Will be at the VC Friday.
Japers' Rink: Hockey blogging from the most powerful city in the world
Laich – Nylander – Bradley… me no likey
Japers' Rink: Hockey blogging from the most powerful city in the world
Nylander needs top-6 minutes to find effectiveness.
However, Laich — Nylander — Kozlov would be crazy train.
How the HELL does Shaone Morrisonn keep getting a sweater?
Right. I mean, what the hell’s the point of dressing Nylander if you’re going to play him with those two?
Japers' Rink: Hockey blogging from the most powerful city in the world

He’s had two great falling down goals this year. One against Buffalo, and this.

I missed the Mo penalty and the goal – anyone else think it was crap, or just Hazardous?

Way more. Easily ten times that.
Japers' Rink: Hockey blogging from the most powerful city in the world
I didn’t look this time. But even if he did, he was doing his job, getting his stick in the passing lane. It’s just an unlucky bounce out there. Plekanec definitely got a piece, if no one else did. Erskine shouldn’t always be PKing, but he didn’t do anything wrong there.
How the HELL does Shaone Morrisonn keep getting a sweater?
not disagreeing… I guess he could have been moving Plekanic out but I wouldn’t have changed much about his play. I said above I thought the goal was pretty much luck.
Indeed. They’ll show it again (maybe) and I’ll have a look. I NEED DVR MANZ

Interesting article on Kovalev here. Money quotes:
“Bob called everybody about Alex Kovalev,” one unnamed agent told La Presse. “This player is on the market for the next two weeks; it’s not a secret around the hockey community.”
and
"According to ruefrontenac.com, Kovalev, speaking to an anonomous friend inside Montreal’s Russian community, is extremely upset with the Canadiens’ young players, stating that their lack of discipline outside of the rink is the cause of the lack of success of the team.
“He is also unhappy with head coach Guy Carbonneau constantly changing the line combinations, joking that Carbonneau changes line combos as often as he changes his tie.”
Japers' Rink: Hockey blogging from the most powerful city in the world
Quote 1, re-examined: “Maybe he would enjoy being on the Caps!”
Quote 2, re-examined: “Well, maybe. But I’m not 100% sure.”
Quote 3, re-examined: “No way he’d like it here. That’s too damn bad.”
How the HELL does Shaone Morrisonn keep getting a sweater?
“[Kovalev] extremely upset with the Canadiens’ young players, stating that their lack of discipline outside of the rink is the cause of the lack of success of the team.”
This quote will stir the pot considering the recent news about Price and the boy’s trip to Mexico last summer. It’s a total nonstory that is going to get brought up over and over again.

Could it be Mathieu Schneider?
Japers' Rink: Hockey blogging from the most powerful city in the world
He played there for a few years before 93-94.
Japers' Rink: Hockey blogging from the most powerful city in the world
Oh, I thought it was career. Maybe I wasn’t paying attention.
Japers' Rink: Hockey blogging from the most powerful city in the world
I even thought Langway for a second, as he had a ton of assists. Schneids is a better answer.
How the HELL does Shaone Morrisonn keep getting a sweater?
Chelly’s a good call too. Frankly, I can’t even think of too many Yanks to even have played for the Habs.
I guessed Schneider based on the fact that he’s playing tonight and they like to be sneaky like that sometimes.
Japers' Rink: Hockey blogging from the most powerful city in the world
I have a feeling the Habs are this year’s Ottawa.

That is stupid that that wasn’t a penalty on Price. You take your mask off, regardless of if it’s broken or not is a penalty. It was a strap, meh. It also killed the rush we were on. Come on.
How the HELL does Shaone Morrisonn keep getting a sweater?
Agreed. Either it’s delay of game, or let the kid play old school if he wants to. But wtf was with the whistle?

I’m pretty convinced that Canadian teams get more preferential treatment from officials when the game is on nationally in Canada. It’s a pain in the ass.
How the HELL does Shaone Morrisonn keep getting a sweater?
Also earlier in the game. The Delay of Game (Both, Komi’s high stick bashing didn’t look like it hit the boards to me), the lack of a penalty for holding on Hamrlik against Fedorov, the back-checking hook on Ovechkin on his goal (Not that that one matters), I mean, it’s terrible.

Agreed, but that’s a byproduct of playing with Nylander. He’s a killer.

Disagree, but that’s ok. You’ve a Bradley on the line too, and Nyls can pass when he gets things done.
