Not to pile on, but...
Pucksnbooks asks (rhetorically), "Why is it that in the third periods of tight hockey games, when the Caps take a penalty, you can always count on Shaone Morrisonn to add to the short-handed woes and make sure that a 5-on-3 kill is thrown in for good measure? Seemingly every time. It's as if he's genetically coded to take penalties at the worst time." Fact: no defenseman in hockey (minimum 30 games played) has taken more penalties per 60 minutes of 4-on-5 time than Mo has. That's gotta be pretty close to the very definition of "tak[ing] penalties at the worst time," no?

Or the big Ersky (if Gabby doesn’t feel Kronwall is ready).
Bottom line: Mo needs to sit. Now.

Yes, but contractually ready and strategically ready are two different things.

Don’t get me wrong – I’m eager to see what he’s got. I’m more eager, however, to see Mo sit one out.

And that behindthenet stat to which I linked isn’t even updated through last night’s game. D’oh!

$1.9m is more than enough of price for that, Mo.

If I were...
an accountant I would say that in the very basic formula of A = L + SE I would say that Mo is neither an Asset nor is he Stockholder’s Equity.
And 7 months later I still can’t believe he actually won his arbitration hearing.
The good news is if he keeps sucking maybe we can bring him back for ‘Erskine’ money. LOL.
Let’s not let Poti off the hook either. From what I saw that was the third straight sub-par game. Oh, and nice diving call. I guess the ice at MSG was bad and you weren’t embellishing.

that is funny, and true, sir.
I’ve got 20 that says it’s the first dive called on Poti in his career…sorry, but that was a BS, home-team whistle.
Man all those 2001 first round draft picks who we traded for have worked out, huh?
(Sorry Stecks… I’m just kidding with you)
My Fault
Sorry, my fault we lost last night. I turned the game on to start the second period and watch NY score three goals. I missed Green’s 2nd goal because I thought shoveling snow was better than watching the game at that point. Caps 3-1 when I wasn’t watching, 1-3 when I was.
While shoveling snow, I was muttering to myself about Poti and the Naslund goal. The more I thought about it, the more I wondered why Poti felt the need to play Dawes coming down the wing when Mo was already there. Does Poti not trust Mo to ride Dawes to the boards? I have to wonder if part of the reason for the goal is that Mo’s own teammates don’t trust him to do his job?
Poti actually did worse than playing the wrong man, he didn’t play any man. He didn’t take the pass away from Dawes, and he didn’t take Naslund stick out of play. Mo blew his assignment as well which could be part of the reason Poti balked.
That sequence could be taped and shown to defensemen in a camp on how not to play a 2 on 2…
Steckel also stunk on the play as he was beside Naslund at the blue line and let him go. Now, he let Nasland go because he assumed Poti was going to be responsible for him and Stecks would then cover the third man (as a forward should). I only raise this because Steckel had issues during the game as he turned the puck over on the second goal and was part of “confusions” on two others goals (Nasland and Mara).

Yes, but considering that Ovechkin gets 1:13 of SH TOI/G (and hasn’t gotten any for a while) and Mo gets 2:56 per game, it’s obviously not nearly as problematic.

(Though the stat is also part of why he’s not killing penalties any more)
