anybody else watching on the New York Rangers feed?

Me. I actually like the MSG guys. But I agree about the picture…
by Gould Old Days on Feb 11, 2009 7:51 PM EST up reply actions
I am. My DirecTV feed is out of New York so the Washington feed is blacked out. I prefer the Caps feed.
by CapsFanSince1979 on Feb 11, 2009 7:54 PM EST up reply actions
Yeah the MSG feed is probably one of the best away feeds I’ve watched/listened to
by Simply Sensational on Feb 11, 2009 7:56 PM EST up reply actions
Who does the MSG games nowadays?

Sam, Joe, and John… I’ll have last names when they come across the screen.

CSN
But the picture sucks. Not HD tonight.
by Scott in Shaw on Feb 11, 2009 7:57 PM EST up reply actions
Well, they call it HD, but it’s suspiciously blurry.
by Scott in Shaw on Feb 11, 2009 8:05 PM EST up reply actions
This ain’t HD – the aspect ratio is right, but the pic is poopadoopalus.

I just switched to USA/Mexico and why am I not surprised someone is being helped off the field despite no visible injury at all?
by CapitalsKremlin on Feb 11, 2009 7:48 PM EST reply actions
Because hamstring injuries happen my friend.
"Good crowd out there tonight, boys, let's really try to win this one."

It looked like he pulled his hamstring…It didn’t look like he was faking it like the rest of soccer injuries
by Simply Sensational on Feb 11, 2009 7:49 PM EST up reply actions
Imagine if they had fighting in soccer….USA/Mexico games would never end

I can’t believe I’m friends with him on Facebook…I really need to delete him, but I’m just waiting for Alfie-esque pictures to come out on his FB page

Agreed, but after a few hundred comments, the threads get slow… or is it just for me?

That’s what we’re testing. If it doesn’t work, we’ll go back to one thread for next game. Whatevs.

First period stats of note (At the risk of getting back to hockey, y'all....)
Flash, Fehr, Feds: +2
39, 19: 3 of 4 on faceoffs.
Jay Beagle: 1 of 4.
Leaders in WSH hits: 10, 8.
Olay, olay, olay, olay…Remember when that was our song after scoring a goal (in 2006? I think) That did NOT work out.
by Simply Sensational on Feb 11, 2009 7:58 PM EST up reply actions
Ahem. Hockey.
Flash, Fehr, Feds: +2
39, 19: 3 of 4 on faceoffs.
Jay Beagle: 1 of 4.
Leaders in WSH hits: 10, 8.
You know, between this game and the new NHL 3-on-3 Arcade game, I’m never going to actually “study” tonight

Voros wants nothing to do with Brash. Good move by him, btw, to not engage.
Japers' Rink: Hockey blogging from the most powerful city in the world
Poti
looks so much better this year when it comes to moving the puck. he really must have been hurting last yr
At the risk of actually talking about A SPORT PLAYED WITH STICKS: When was the last time we saw 15 down below the goal line so much (in the O-zone)?
How can you refocus the conversation with a rhetorical question?
Japers' Rink: Hockey blogging from the most powerful city in the world
I agree, nice to see another connoisseur of backhanders.

Stecks-Alzner, got confused there and the result was a non-clear. Same as what happened in the first period, almost. I think that’s a symptom of Alzner going up-and-down. You don’t communicate with your teammates the same way when your teammates have been Bears.
Yeah, bears don’t talk too well, but they sure can skate!
by Scott in Shaw on Feb 11, 2009 8:14 PM EST up reply actions
So would that be -2 for Alzner and Jucina?
by Simply Sensational on Feb 11, 2009 8:13 PM EST reply actions
Locker and Joe on a Skiidoo, not a mental image I want.
by CapitalsKremlin on Feb 11, 2009 8:20 PM EST reply actions
But I’d like to see Theo cut off that pass
Japers' Rink: Hockey blogging from the most powerful city in the world
Poti could have erased Naslund. But that’s a quibble. Mo is mainly at fault. His play was terrible. Staffan can’t come soon enough.
by Gould Old Days on Feb 11, 2009 8:25 PM EST up reply actions
Rags have half the goals they have scored in their last five in two periods vs. the Caps tonight. Ugh.
by CapitalsKremlin on Feb 11, 2009 8:24 PM EST reply actions
MSG had a perfect replay. the original ranger was still on the ice when the other guy received the pass.
by Gould Old Days on Feb 11, 2009 8:30 PM EST up reply actions
Gotta love Joe B’s homerism. Did the Rags announcers say it was definitely penalty shot worthy?
by Scott in Shaw on Feb 11, 2009 8:31 PM EST up reply actions
maybe we can send him to Hershey to play a few games before we call him up again Saturday…..
by Pi on Feb 11, 2009 8:37 PM EST up reply actions
MSG is calling out Green on that last goal for heading to the bench instead of the play when he left the box.
well, I’msure Sam Rosen knows more about what BB wants than does Greenie…
by Pi on Feb 11, 2009 8:39 PM EST up reply actions
The play was in the Caps’ zone and he headed to the bench rather than to help out, in essence creating a 5-on-4
Japers' Rink: Hockey blogging from the most powerful city in the world
They keep it interesting for sure!

Guess who's got more goals than Iginla, Hartnell and Semin?
Not combined, but you get the idea.
"Good crowd out there tonight, boys, let's really try to win this one."
SPG after 2 periods
Yours truly leads w/ 2 points, thanks to Flash & Green
Pick SPG for your chance to win probably nothing.
Caps D are playing too close to JT’s crease when the puck is in the defensive zone. They’re in too tight to the crease, ‘making’ screens for him.
Agreed. Gotta keep bodies and shots to the outside.
Japers' Rink: Hockey blogging from the most powerful city in the world
Ha, “He’s still scoring goals in his 7th game”
I heard that too

I’ve been a Syracuse fan since I can remember…I love em, but UCONN crushed em, and I didn’t mean to insult them (if I did?)
by Simply Sensational on Feb 11, 2009 8:53 PM EST up reply actions
Yeah, they’ve been in a tailspin for a couple of weeks. Bastards.
Japers' Rink: Hockey blogging from the most powerful city in the world
One thing I guarantee the Caps are talking about in the locker room — they got burned for two goals on Rangers line changes. They need to be aware of who’s coming onto the ice.
SPG Question
For those of you who play: Thinking of getting rid of WNH altogether. Probably for the playoffs.
Agree/Disagree/Don’t care?
Pick SPG for your chance to win probably nothing.
Agree. WNH is too easy a way to rack up points.
Japers' Rink: Hockey blogging from the most powerful city in the world
Where do you guys get your stats? I just got an iPhone and tried to get stats while at the phone booth, but NHL.com doesn’t work on the iPhone.
I get NHL.com at the VC and get my stats from there. Huh.

Ovie’s finishing a lot of hits
Japers' Rink: Hockey blogging from the most powerful city in the world
Mara did a hell of a job there.
Japers' Rink: Hockey blogging from the most powerful city in the world
Someone took a shot at Ovie from the bench?
Japers' Rink: Hockey blogging from the most powerful city in the world
at least we know the refs aren't trying to get the rags a win
because then they’d start putting them on the PK
Ovie killed the guy at the point. He’s pissed. He will score.
Japers' Rink: Hockey blogging from the most powerful city in the world

Kolbe just mentioned that Fehr has 4 goals in his last 6 games…..not shabby either.
Not buying a #16 sweater just yet, but it is encouraging.

the refs may just call it in OT to even up the 5 on 3……
by Pi on Feb 11, 2009 9:27 PM EST up reply actions
Pi’s rule for NHL make up calls: a 5 on 3 = an OT minor……
by Pi on Feb 11, 2009 9:29 PM EST up reply actions
Their PK is better offensively than their PP. I’ll take 5-5 happily.
by thehoagster07 on Feb 11, 2009 9:28 PM EST up reply actions

not surprising that its bad… they melted the ice for the dog show right? brand new sheet, its gonna be junk.
I think I saw a pile of dog poop on the ice. Or maybe it was Colton Orr. Zing!

Do these Rangers fans not know about the offside rule?
Please tell me they’re sighing at their players.
Who are your shooters?
1. Green
2. Nylander
3. Gordon Ovechkin
by Simply Sensational on Feb 11, 2009 9:41 PM EST reply actions
Nylander played with Henrik for two years, right? I like him to have some insight.
Japers' Rink: Hockey blogging from the most powerful city in the world
It would only make sense Nylander would do a spin-o-rama
by Simply Sensational on Feb 11, 2009 9:44 PM EST up reply actions
why do you think that goalies would rather have a fresh cut? I would think it would be the shooters that would want it…
Nyls, Elevate.
a slapshot on a shootout? what is this 1999?
by Simply Sensational on Feb 11, 2009 9:48 PM EST reply actions
fuck, whatever they have 18 points on the season in shootouts, lets see how that holds pu in the postseason
And at that moment, the rain comes into my hood and blocks the dish.
"Good crowd out there tonight, boys, let's really try to win this one."
Random Q — Was Alzner on the ice for the 3rd? I do not recall hearing his name called (which isn’t a bad thing), and I know we were on the PK for a while.
14:05 TOI. Not alot for a D (Mo had 20; JS 25, Juice 11; Poti 24; Green 26)
by Pi on Feb 11, 2009 9:56 PM EST up reply actions
wow just got finished watching that one…it was sloppy. Pretty weak double minor since it was the ref that forced Mo’s stick up. Something needs to change with this “if there’s blood, give ’em 4” rule…because that was WEAK. That and the run the goalie and score goal for the rags just about threw me over the edge…notice how Theo saved it and then whoever it was (korpikoski?) happened to push it in while he was sliding into the goalie? The MSG guys said “well, there wasn’t a distinct kicking motion” but i still think that it was crap.
Pretty shitty way to end, but an exciting game none the less. I hate shootouts – what a gimmick. i just fast forward through them.
