Is this gonna break the Canes Country Mario comment record for most recs?

by red army line on Dec 9, 2009 2:52 PM EST up reply actions

Canes Country Mario? I think you’re confusing your battles.

You're the reason that I hate Nova Scotia.

by Fehr and Balanced on Dec 9, 2009 3:29 PM EST up reply actions

In asymmetric warfare, your enemy is often faceless. Canes Country Mario….Broad Street Harwood….they’re all the same.

by Cluster on Dec 9, 2009 3:38 PM EST up reply actions

one day i’ll waste a few hours and try to identify an official winner, but for now i can pull this one by b.orr4.

would be cool is SBN allowed you to sort someone’s comments by # of recs received.

by Natty Bumppo on Dec 9, 2009 4:10 PM EST up reply actions

really? So I can go look at what my most popular posts were?

by RedBirdie on Dec 9, 2009 4:24 PM EST up reply actions

I’d settle for figuring out how to link to a specific comment.

that too! I always feel silly going “here, in this thread, about 2/3 down the page, give or take a 100 comments…..”

by RedBirdie on Dec 9, 2009 4:49 PM EST up reply actions

Just click on the date/time part of the comment…

by sixsevenfiftysix on Dec 9, 2009 4:55 PM EST up reply actions

Oh, that is so cool.

Not “z” key cool, but still pretty damned cool.

hmmmm, I seem to remember one or two of those silly sparkle, blingy pictures getting 30+, but I could be wrong.

by Cluster on Dec 9, 2009 4:49 PM EST up reply actions

the initial blingee competition wasn't that stellar, but scott's nylander entry a few days later cleaned up with 38 recs.

by Natty Bumppo on Dec 9, 2009 5:12 PM EST up reply actions

I take no joy in that, considering how nothing has happened since then.

Hey, I figure it’s relevant to the greater thread and to this particular discussion…

A last ditch effort to prove to Nyls that an NHL club isn’t gonna take him so he’ll finally sign with a KHL team?

keeping him cleared in case something comes up. he has to clear every 30 days

by renstar on Dec 9, 2009 1:40 PM EST up reply actions

This from Tarik at Capitals Insider
Varlamov out with a groin muscle strain

Although Michael Nylander has cleared waivers once, he was placed on waivers again today. That has to happen every 30 days — just in case he accepts a deal that would send him to Russia on loan. There is, however, no indication that something is cooking

by CAPFan4Life on Dec 9, 2009 1:40 PM EST reply actions

How amazing would it be if someone claimed him this time? Please, please, please….

by sixsevenfiftysix on Dec 9, 2009 1:44 PM EST reply actions

this team has to have atleast 4.5 MIl in cap space and next

by CAPFan4Life on Dec 9, 2009 1:48 PM EST up reply actions

or be willing to eat his NHL salary in the AHL since his no movement clause expires after this season and he can be sent to the AHL at any time.

4.5 MIl in cap space

Actually I believe it’s more like 3.19 in cap space since it’d be prorated.

by Yoshietree on Dec 9, 2009 1:56 PM EST up reply actions

I could see the St. Louis Blues picking him up since they are 12.7% and ranked worst in the NHL on the Power Play

by CAPFan4Life on Dec 9, 2009 1:54 PM EST reply actions

not outside the realm of possibility, since the blues offense really hasn’t been working. but they are overloaded at the center position, so much so that backes was moved to wing. mcdonald, oshie, backes, berglund.

by Natty Bumppo on Dec 9, 2009 2:16 PM EST up reply actions

They’ve overloaded the same way we are – in the way that Laich, Flash, and Gordon are also “Centers”. Backes is better at wing, and Mcdonald can play any forward position well.

Familiar Rapports: Bald Pollack, F&B, Gould Old Days.

Lobbies: Osala, Perreault, Erskine, Pothier, Neuvirth, Flash.

Fan of: Mean Lars Backstrom, Line Mashing, Cake.

by Whiter Mage on Dec 9, 2009 2:45 PM EST up reply actions

true, any center can play wing and the only difference between them is faceoffs. I like the fact that laich or flash were centers because if the first center gets thrown out of the circle, they can come in and take the draw with just as much confidence. If nylander can bring a element that they currently don’t have, don’t think just because they have plenty of centers will stop them from claiming him.

by CAPFan4Life on Dec 9, 2009 3:01 PM EST up reply actions

has flash ever lined up at center in the NHL? (honest question.)

the caps have depth at 3rd- and 4th-line center (apologies to MP). and still don’t have room for nylander.
maybe i’m misreading the situation, but the blues have depth at 1st- and 2nd-line center.

Much like Versus on DirecTV, this is dead to me.

Much like Christmas this year at Eldrick’s house, this is dead to me.
