The many sides of Sasha Semin on display during this game

The stick fouls, the turnovers at the blue line, the overpassing, the occasional disinterest…

…and the fact that he basically made the first goal by himself. Not many guys can walk in and around the defender and create that angle, then get the pass where it needs to be. The stick skills to tie up Halpern, then get back down the ice and make the right pass. The play in the first where he walked past two defenders into the low slot and let go a laser.

He’s a funny one.

You know, I’m not feeling particularly trenchant tonight. Got a sweet dog by my side, I’m drinking a little bit of Rainwater Madeira (delicious) and thinking about which of our many good leftovers to make myself for dinner.

The Caps are up 3-0 against a division rival, Vinny Lecavalier has Dave-Steckel-itis, and has had it all year. Our star, in contrast, is continuing a remarkable year. Life is good.

Venison is delicious and, in most places, good for the environment. Deer ain’t going to become endangered anytime soon.

The best of the bunch was Fleischmann to Fehr, though. Those kids really are developing some beautiful chemistry.
