Had Comcast for years, but I got really tired of the awful service whenever there was a problem with it.

I’m not convinced Verizon would be any better. I’m sort of baffled by the problem I’m having right now – at random, if I punch for a channel, it could be up to 10 minutes before the channel randomly decides to change. It’s like my box has random hangtime.

been a FiOS guy for more than a year now and I’ll never go back to Comcast. Verizon could come over and slap my kids, fondle my wife and kick my dog and I’d be OK with that considering how much better thier customer service is. Oh and the picture and sound make cale seem like two tin cans and a string.

I have no problem with the rule, actually. Its not like they know which of us are tools and which of us are not. I was just frustrated cause i wanted to comment some and wasn’t able to.

I agree. But to say we’re better without 8 is a bit of a stretch. I think everyone is just stepping up their game while 8’s away. I would love to see them continue this while 8 is playing as well, though.

Last year, we would get oh crap moments with the puck bouncing around in front of our net, and we would almost always give up the goal. This year I see us making the simple play of just clearing the puck…even if it is just blindly to the wall to get the puck out of the danger zone in front of the net. Very simple, but effective. Is this a product of Woods as asst. coach?
In a few games, yes, but I haven’t seen this being a trend – actually the opposite until this latest streak. They’ve been spending a lot of time in their own zone chasing the puck when they could have cleared on a simple play. Remember – this team is still up there in goals allowed.
Not talking about clears. I’m talking about when the puck is bouncing around in front of the crease, just shove it to the side wall to get it out of danger, when there isn’t time to control for a clear.

Ya, i was always a swimmer in high school and got bored of it coming to college. It’s probably the only things stopping me form trying hockey(that and the fact there are no rinks closer then 45 min from harrisonburg)
I swam when I was young but quit as a young teen. I would have done water polo in college but it had a good amount of overlap with hockey season and I didn’t feel like getting myself into that kind of shape. I had some very important extracurricular activities, if you get me. Rugby is the other sport I regret not playing. At least I got it right on Hockey.

haha we sound very similar, I’m not the biggest guy but played rugby a bit in high school, guys here at JMU are huge so figured i was better fit for water polo, and water polo seems to fit right in with my extracurricular activities as in tonight

haha agreed on the running, swimming has always come easier to me and unfortunately college has put me on the bad path of smoking which for some reason i can do better swimming then running (i hope to stop soon but not easy in college)

I picked up a friend from Philadelphia at the airport two hours ago. He’s visiting me here in Sweden. He’s a huge Flyers fan. We talk about Lavoilette/Stevens etc etc on the way home. It’s about an hours ride. We grab some late night food and walk into my apartment. The game is on TV? Great we think. This’ll be fun.

Hey maybe you know the answer to this – I am scheduled to be in Helsinki the first week of the playoffs (April 11) – will I be able to pretty easily find the games on tv there? (Realize that’s not Sweden, but you’re pretty close up there.)
I know a channel called Viasat (the Comcast of Scandinavia) shows live games on tv all over scandinavia. That channel is found in most hotell rooms in Sweden and Finland. So you’ll probably get to see hockey. I don’t know which teams they’ll show but you’ll at least see hockey. Matches usually start around 1 AM in Finland.

Question for you guys – some CSN Philly chick is trying to tell me Brads high-sticked Carcillo before getting sucker-punched (and that it wasn’t a sucker punch, but that’s a different issue b/c she’s crazy).
Did ANYONE see that? I don’t want to be this determined in my opinions unless I’m 100% sure but I’m just not seeing it in any replay. The closest I’ve seen is an inadvertent raising of both their sticks when Brads hits Carcillo.
That’s kind of what I figured. I just didn’t want to be accused of doing the same! But unless the high stick happened like an hour before the hit, I can’t see it on the replay. I was being told “it was a high stick and the papers will be reporting it as such tomorrow” and that it was all the talk of press box row.
…I wanted to say “yeah, the Philly papers will maybe”, but…thought better of it.

I think I can see where people might say there was a high stick, but it is pretty clear that it never actually hit Carcillo.

Brads’ stick came up but it hit all glass, not Carcillo. You have to want to see head contact to see it. Carcillo doesn’t even react like he got hit in the head.

At the end there, that was a sweet, sweet play by Alzner. Scrambling around in the zone with a man sans stick, the puck comes to him in the slot and he calmly skates it out of the zone instead of panicking and dumping it down the ice, gets the red line and puts it behind the net.

lol I was confused for like a week when you did that. I saw CapsChick and Becca H comment on the same thread i think and it just messed my brain up.

Holy hell Don Cherry had a sane thought (stunning coming from someone wearing a Bruins tie and somehow praising the Leafs in the loss) just said that Carcillo deserves to be suspended for that. of course he did take a cheaper shot at Brads than Carcillo did after that but still said no place for that in hockey.

Umm don’t think I saw anyone do a Brads update (and omg there are so many posts to go through and look to see if someone did, haha) so… he got some stitches, but says he’s fine.

I see that we hit over 1000 comments on today’s Game Day Thread. (The big threads at Japers’ are definitely too much for IE to handle. I’m having much better luck reading the Japers thread with Firefox.)
Now back to our regularly scheduled subject — today’s game.
Great game, Caps! A beatdown could not have happened to a more deserving team — except Pittsburgh. The Flyers once again show their true filthy colors in Philthy.
And may Carcillo get suspended. (Philthy has an amazing talent for picking up dirty players.)
