Third Period Open Thread
It's 3-0 and the Caps have looked absolutely neutered in the offensive zone all game. If they're going to win this one it's going to take another superhuman effort, most likely from #8.

even after, well, a few beers this game is not looking too wonderful. here’s to hoping something goes right. i still don’t see the super awesome benefits of the super awesome deal the other night… if this trend continues i think it’s fair to say we made a bad move. producing or not, i fail to see why we needed to move our captain during the best season ever?
Caps 'n Bears
Meh, give it another game for #25 to get fully on board. Lots of line juggling tonight due to the forward lines being pretty out of sync and generally lost. Hoping to see things get back on track in LA. I’ll take the glass half full approach and say a couple of dings off the post and minus the rare penalty shots (did Greenie get the puck before wiping Clowe out, or did my eyes betray me – I didn’t have the DVR going) and the game would have looked far less ugly. I’ll ignore the bad clears and the rest of the ugliness, for now.

More cap space, clears the roster logjam at defense, gives the team a better, cheaper forward for the bottom six, and gives them more flexibility down the road.
Let’s go Caps! (Nope, didn’t go to bed yet)

My Keys to the Third Period:
1) SHOOT THE DAMN PUCK.
2) Pinpoint passing. No cutesy tootsy stuff.
3) Traffic in front of Nabokov. You gotta screen him and get some deflections.
4) Kill the odd-man rushes. That’s accounted for pretty much all SJS goals tonight.
5) Defense needs to tighten up. Less giveaways and more clearing, plus more sharpness.

Refs have missed calls on both sides tonight. Then again, that’s just the story for most of the games we’ve seen.

Wow Boyle, if you’re gonna start something, don’t be such a bitch about it. Man up.

It was mutual.
But to me it looked like Boyle was the first one to actually grab hold.

Watched the replay after the game. AO definitely was the main catalyst.
Boyle still needs to man up.

Good Lord, looks like Boyle’s 5-9.
"I didn't mind a diminished role because we were winning so much and we're such a great team and had a chance to do something in the playoffs...I would have taken any role on this team to do that.
Canadian media will talk about AO going after poor little Dan Boyle, possibly in an attempt to injure him off of Team CAN.

I’m proud no one had advocated violence like some other fan bases do when they’re obviously going to lose.
I am easily satisfied with the very best
I nearly advocated Nichol taking a ride with Heatley.

I loved that violence between AO and Murray, and I would have loved if AO fought Boyle or Heatley.
In an ideal world all ten fingers would be on my left hand so my right hand could just be a fist for punching.
I don’t want AO having any part of Murray. Ideally he takes someone else off the ice that’s as valuable as he is.

if they played the caps when they weren’t still on their post-clark period…this would have been different, i feel.
I think a loss agaisnt the worst, followed by a heated loss to the best should shake them free of this.
let’s hope so, at least

Third Star – 22 Dan Boyle (hmph.)
Second Star – 29 Ryan Clowe
First Star – 8 Joe Pavelski.
Neuvirth deserves an honorary one damnit.
Really? I thought Neuvirth was weak, but I did miss some of the game. What made you think it was still good?
They laughed at Columbus, they laughed at Fulton, they laughed at the Wright brothers. But they also laughed at Bozo the Clown.
He made several very nice saves, especially in the first period when the outcome was still in doubt. That game could have been a blowout much earlier and he bought the team some time to pull their heads from their asses, which they never did.

Can Woodsie take the tape from this game and teach our players the same positioning and stick tie ups?
