I think it might be over. There may be another fight or two but Richards fought. I don’t know if FLA has the attitude to chase his ass down all night. They aren’t that mean.

You may be right – they may now be looking for an absolute beatdown on the scoreboard as a priority, but they’re pretty upset about the Booth hit, enough that they explicitly called up enforcers for this game.

I’m not entirely sure – we do know that the refs get a pre-gaming briefing on both teams. Wonder if they were told “the Panthers are looking for trouble, keep it in check”.
It certainly does seem inconsistent, but in a limited sample size the inconsistency has gone the Flyers’ way for the most part. My only thought.

SJS pressure is relentless, and their anticipation of where the puck is going to be is, well, uncanny
Yeah, that’s the hockey sense. Their guys are already attacking where the puck is going to be before it’s there. They know when they need to lay off a little bit but they always have that aggressive mindset. I wonder if it’s the players or the coaching.

Love Brian Burke. He loves physical hockey but he still said that Mike Richards hit on Booth wasn’t ok. Really like his balanced (dare I say fair?) stance on the issue.

Burke is a pretty bright guy. Very pragmatic and willing to revise rules if they aren’t serving the needs of the constituents instead of hiding behind “this is the way it’s always been done”.

Not that power rankings mean a damn thing, but OTF’s rankings as of tonight are CHI, SJS, PIT, NJD, CGY. Pretty awesome that the top four faced each other in the last two nights, and the lower “seeds” won. CGY is having a real good season, but they are second in their division. Not exactly sure how that decision got made.

Jesus. The justification included “they caught a break not dropping further” and “they are 3-5-1 in December” and “they rely too much on Miikka Kiprusoff.” Meanwhile, there is another team ahead of them in the standings, and another team in the league that is 7-3 in the last ten and has 50 points.

How much you want to bet that they had to include one Canadian team in there, and Calgary as the least messy fo teh lot got the vote by default?

That’s sorta what I was getting at. I don’t like the pro-Canada conspiracies, but sometimes OTF and the Canadian Media make it hard to ignore it.

Watching STL/CGY. This Roman Polak character is a pretty good skater, he’d make a nice addition. I’d also kill to get Oshie (will never happen) and do some serious maiming to get Backes (only slightly more likely).

Me too. Backes could be a tremendous 2/3C for us down the road..kid has a nasty snarl to him that we could use at the pivot.
Polak seems to be STL’s 55.

In what sense? Quiet numbers? Fan misunderstanding? I haven’t watched much of Polak but he looked like he goes about his business much differently than Schultz but is still effective in his own way.
