Website says only 24 more applications are needed for the Caps license plates. They make great gifts for that VA Caps fan who you are having trouble shopping for.

Forget the diamond earrings for the wife for the holidays, nothing says "I Love You" like a Weagle on your loved one's car!

Kids don't need the latest transformer toy, a Weagle plate for their BMX should bring joy and smiles all around!

Better yet, Order one for that VA Resident Pens fan and sneak it on their car as a prank, see how long until they notice!

Let's get it done, Japer-Nation!

It’s really low on my priority list, though kind of cool. It’s hard to believe they’ve had so much trouble getting the minimum commitments out of this fanbase. The fact they’re so close has me thinking about maybe doing it for one year.

I’m bitter we don’t have this option in DC.

Fun fact: A popular opinion can still be stupid.

We might soon.

MD is obviously filled with more dedicated Caps fans.

MD only requires 25 members to establish a plate. VA is 250.

by FFSEnough on Dec 22, 2009 8:45 AM EST up reply actions

Sorry, 350 according to the Caps website.

by FFSEnough on Dec 22, 2009 8:47 AM EST up reply actions

The reason VA fans are hesitant is because we get charged an annual fee for designer plates, iirc.

Extra Incentive...

If we get this done, i’ll post a pic of my plate as my avatar. Fail, and I’ll never ever put up an avatar for myself ;-)

by FFSEnough on Dec 21, 2009 3:29 PM EST reply actions

Sounds like a plan. My application (and $) has been in for months. I’ll use mine as my avatar, or if it doesn’t happen, take my current one down just to tick off the avatar-obsessed.

Just shoot me.

I hate giving more money to the state than absolutely necessary, and I’m going to sign up for this.

I got mine in the spring. (Md) and the 50 bucks goes to Caps Charities. I just got my 2 yr renewal and the price went down 20 bucks for my pickup

I had given these to some caps friends for Xmas presents last year… So if it falls through, I’ll have to retro-give some other gifts for Xmas 2008.

I should just print out a bunch of applications and just go to kettler and leave them on every windshield

by Doncosmic on Dec 21, 2009 7:33 PM EST reply actions

I mean how many guys who are on the team or work for the team haven’t sent one in.

by Doncosmic on Dec 21, 2009 7:34 PM EST up reply actions

with only 24 remaining, if I were Ted it would be a required use of the most recent december paycheck.

The other reason this would be extra cool? We’d be the 2nd team in VA with a plate. (does MD have a Skins plate?)

by FFSEnough on Dec 21, 2009 9:30 PM EST up reply actions

possibly. Its actually ridiculously easy to get special plates set up in Maryland.

So you’re seeing we should do Japers’ Rink tags in MD?

I’ll just be sitting here in DC, jealous that my car is only sporting a nice middle finger to Congress.

All you need are 25 people, and you must be a not-for-profit organization… marylandmva.com has all the info.

by FFSEnough on Dec 22, 2009 1:24 PM EST up reply actions

you have to be non-profit? While the Caps haven’t turned a profit since Ted bought them, I’m not sure that qualifies as non-profit status.

Fun fact: A popular opinion can still be stupid.

by RedBirdie on Dec 22, 2009 1:35 PM EST up reply actions

In MD, you have to be not for profit, which is why all checks are made out to Wash.Caps Charities.

by FFSEnough on Dec 22, 2009 1:40 PM EST up reply actions

ahhhhh. gotcha. Like I said, I’m in DC so I didn’t pay attention to who the check was made out to.

Fun fact: A popular opinion can still be stupid.

Thanks for the reminder! I think I will order mine at the game Wednesday.
