We're not going to do anything right now anyway. We like our team, we like the way they've been playing.

So based on what we’ve seen and heard from GM in the past:
We are doing something right now.
We don’t like our team (at least relative to how much we could with a few tweaks).
We don’t like the way they’ve been playing.
Well…maybe.

Just remember — whatever McPhee says is independent of the actual truth. If he said the opposite of what he thought every time, then people could figure out what he really meant.
In all seriousness, why would you ever say anything other than this in this situation. I don’t care what your intentions are, you say you’re happy with what you’ve got. Anything else would be poor negotiating.
McPhee may be overly conservative at times, but he’s not a poor negotiator. That’s for sure.

We joke because we can.
You are, of course, correct. Witness last year at the deadline, when he said they would stand pat and they did. Whether they could have actually done anything is a different matter.

Pull the fire alarm
GM of top ranked team doesn’t want to move any of his guys out?
Smells fishy to me.
My ability to post is only surpassed by my ability to pinch pennies.
Well, yeah. If you say you don’t like them, you decrease their value on the trade market.
I still say this is accurate, though. They’re not going to make a move yet – let ‘em play and shake stuff out and we’ll know who’s going and who’s not in a month or so. It’s not like we’re exactly hurting in the playoff picture.
